Congratulations! You have already done the first challenge...You Accepted the Challenge!
You have been assigned your very own Tech Challenge Badge Chart through Google Classroom. Normally I would pass out sticker badges for staff to put on their charts that they hang in full view for all to see (you have to love earning those bragging rights). I will email you any earned digital badge at the end of the week it was assigned (they will also be available in the "Helpful Resources" topic in Classroom if you complete them after the deadline). You can "stick" (upload them to the Drawing) your earned badges on your chart when you earn them.
Get ready to get your Tech-On!
So, you have that perfect picture but you really want to have a different background. For example, your students are studying landforms and you want to put a picture of them on the top of a mountain. If only you could take the object of the picture (your students) and put it on a different background. The good news, you CAN! There is an awesome (and free) website that can strip the background of any image away and make it transparent so you can overlay it on a new background. The curricular possibilities are endless! Give www.remove.bg a try!
Your Challenge: Share a creative image of yourself in a new location
Remove the background from a picture of yourself using https://www.remove.bg/ (no need to create an account).
Create a Google Drawing and upload an awesome background.
Put your transparent background image of you in this new location.
Click "File", then "Download" and choose "PNG".
All these steps are shown in the Document and Video Below.
Turn in your Image: (How-to Upload: hbit.ly/ClassroomTurnInFile)
Upload your image to Classroom using the "Add" button below and then clicking "File".
Browse or drag the file into the screen and click "Upload".
After uploading the image click the "Turn In" button to send it to me.

There are many whiteboard apps and tools out there. Many need subscriptions to do much. Below are 2 FREE whiteboards I recommend exploring. Choose one (or even both) to explore for this challenge.
Whiteboard.chat:
This is the more complete tool. It has many tools and add-ons, and is 100% free for teachers! It has the options for multiple pages, connections for up to 100 people, collaboration, save to PDF feature, video calling, teacher view (see all student work in live time), uploading backgrounds and PDF, and so much more! Oh, did I mention that it is 100% FREE! Whiteboard.chat is a Free, full-featured, and powerful whiteboard tool. There is more to it than most will ever need, but enough to make it your โgo-toโ whiteboard tool. It even has an option to limit what is available to students (this helps with our young learners).
Whiteboard.fi:
This is a basic tool that allows a teacher to see all the studentsโ work in live-action on one screen while everyone in the class is working. The other benefits are that this is free and that no teacher or student accounts are needed!
Your Challenge: Create a Whiteboard: The Documents attached below will show you how to do this.
Use either of these tools to explore:
More Options: whiteboard.chat
More Basic: whiteboard.fi
Create a whiteboard.
You can have a student (or all of them) get in to see how it works. For those without a classroom just play around with some of the tools (draw, add image, other things).

PDFs are great when you want a copy of something that can not be edited or changed, but there are times when you want them to be filled in (like a "worksheet"). Kami is a site/extension that allows you to do just that! You can visit Kami online and edit a PDF, or install the extension and edit with the click of a button. Even better, you can assign a PDF through Google Classroom and students can fill in PDF activities.
Your Challenge: Fill in a PDF with Kami

This one will take a little longer than the other challenges and might require some exploring! You are going to use EDpuzzle to create an interactive video. EDpuzzle lets you embed questions or prompts into YouTube videos. You can link your students' accounts using Google Classroom and then you can see statistics on how many times students watched a video and even have EDpuzzle self-score embedded questions. This is a cool tool. Your job is to find any YouTube video (for your class or just for fun) and add some questions in it. Then share the EDpuzzle link with me through Google Classroom. You get 20 videos for FREE, but can earn more videos when you refer a friend. Share your referral link and get more videos in YOUR account!
Make sure to check out the How-To (EDpuzzle: Interactive Videos) I made below for help. As always with tech tools, EdPuzzle just updated their interface the week before this came out after my "How-To" was written. It is all the same, but a little more colorful. Just a heads-up if it looks a little different.
Here is an example: edpuzzle.com/media/5e53f8e03c4b5040c0d13777

Welcome to the LAST CHALLENGE! This one is a little more time-consuming. For all those that like to wait until the last minute, don't wait until Sunday evening to start this challenge! This one will take a little more time to do than the others to complete. You are, after all, Tech Gurus by now!
Videos are one of the best ways to show others content or give directions With everyone having Chromebooks (or using the Chrome browser), video editing gets tough to do. There is one program that works: WeVideo. The free version can get you by and do all you need (unfortunately it is a little limited and videos contain a watermark), but it is worth using for easy online video editing. The paid version is awesome, but it is pricy and not needed in most classrooms.
Your Challenge: Create a Video and Edit with WeVideo
1. Create a FฬฒRฬฒEฬฒEฬฒ WeVideo account (www.wevideo.com).
2. Create a simple video. It can be of anything. This is not Oscar-worthy, just exploring the tool.
Use an old screencast
Use a video from your Drive that you have for students
If you do not have a video already you can click "Record" in WeVideo and create a webcam recording or screencast.
3. Get the link to this video (either from your Drive or WeVideo) to share with me.

Deadlines...ugh! I, too, hate deadlines. I know many of you are like me and would wait until the last week to do all the challenges. Unfortunately, this would cause me to then be shuffling stickers, attaching individual treats, driving to buildings to deliver, and basically make a mess of the "๐๐ฉ๐ฐ ๐จ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ" system that needs to be balanced with multiple buildings and this many players. That would take the fun from me (so sad). I also don't want anyone to give up if they miss a Challenge deadline. This should be fun and hopefully inspire some new learning.
So...I am posting one "Bonus Challenge". This will make any one "Late Assignments" worth the full point! Think of it as an "Oops" assignment. Life happens (trust me, I understand), and I don't want anyone getting frustrated when that happens. If you have a late assignment, just do this task and the late assignment will be marked for "Full Credit"!
Screencasting is recording your computer screen to show how to do things. It is a great way to share feedback, share a screen-based project, or just demo something. An easy (and free) way to do this is with Loom. Install the Chrome Extension (linked below) and set up your FREE account (students can use this as well to share their work, ideas, projects, etc). Make sure to sign in with your School Account to get full free access. Use it to record your screen (this can be anything, no worries) and share the video with me! There is a video below that shows these steps as well as a link to Screencastify directions. This is way easier than it sounds...Trust me...You can do it!
