The applicant must be:
Applicant must be a legal resident of the State of Minnesota, and a citizen of the United States.
Applicant shall be a legal descendent of a Veteran member of the American Legion; and/or a legal descendent of an American Legion Auxiliary member.
Applicant shall be a High School graduate upon receipt of the scholarship and must meet the academic standards of the school they will be attending.
Applicant must have a good record of school and community citizenship, indicate their loyalty to their country, and show the qualities of initiative and desire to pursue an education beyond High School.
Applicant shall establish a financial need.
Awards will be made on the basis of personal need with consideration given to the desire to continue education, ability to succeed, career to be pursued, and purpose for which scholarship is to be used. The decisions of the committee, composed of the members of the Education and Americanism Committee, or its duly appointed agents, will be final. The Northwestern Stockmen’s Association would like to aid first year college students who have chosen to continue their education in an agriculture-related field.
To Qualify, a student must intend to be a full-time student pursuing a major course of study. The amount of the award will be $500. The applicants will be reviewed and considered by a committee of members in the NWSA and notified of their awards. If an award is received, the student will be required to send the NWSA a transcript to verify their college GPA meets the minimum requirement of a 2.5 to receive the award, after completion of their first year of post-secondary education.

The 2025-2026 MBEX / TBG Construction Scholarship will be awarded to multiple students pursuing a construction-related degree at an accredited post-secondary institution in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Students pursing specific trades of study (masonry, electrical, carpentry, etc.) are highly encouraged to apply, and all types of construction-related fields of study are eligible.
Be pursuing a construction-related field of study at an accredited post-secondary educational institution, be it a trade school, a two-year technical or community college, or four-year university.
Be entering the Fall 2025 semester as a freshman, sophomore, or junior. Students completing their degree beyond the traditional four years may also be eligible to apply.
Be studying at said accredited post-secondary institution in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.
Be maintaining a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Possess a strong passion for the construction and building industry.
Agree to attend a minimum of ONE MBEX-sponsored event during Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026. For applicants who live outside of Minnesota who are awarded a scholarship who live outside of Minnesota, further conversation will be had with MBEX staff.
