The Backpack Wallet extension supports more than 15 blockchains from a single recovery phrase, covering Solana, Ethereum and its major Layer 2s, BNB Chain, Sui, Aptos, Monad, Sei, Berachain, HyperEVM, Eclipse and Robinhood Chain. EVM and non-EVM chains run side by side in the same browser interface, which is unusual. Most extensions pick one side of that line and stay on it.
That breadth is the main argument for running Backpack in your browser at all. It's also, awkwardly, where people lose money, because one recovery phrase does not mean one address. Your seed generates four different address types across those chains, they look nothing alike, and they aren't interchangeable. Send USDC to the wrong one and nothing bounces back.
So this page does two jobs. It gives you the current network list with gas tokens and what each chain is actually for, and it explains the address structure underneath, which determines whether your first transfer arrives. Your twelve words generate addresses on every supported chain. Those addresses are not the same string. The extension gives you:

Notice what that means in practice. All thirteen EVM chains share one address, so if you know your 0x string you can receive on any of them. Solana is separate. Sui and Aptos are separate again, and separate from each other.
Which is why a token name on its own tells you nothing. USDC exists on a dozen chains and those are different balances on different ledgers. A sender who picks "USDC" without picking the network is setting up a transfer that goes wrong.

Backpack adds networks regularly, so the list inside the extension beats any blog post, this one included.
Solana is where Backpack started and it still shows. Staking, NFT Collection Locking, xNFTs and the deepest dApp coverage all live here, and new features tend to land on Solana before anywhere else. Gas runs under a cent, confirmations take seconds, and if Solana is most of your activity then this is an extension built for you rather than one that added you later.
Eclipse is the interesting companion. It runs the Solana virtual machine but settles to Ethereum, inheriting Solana's speed alongside Ethereum's security assumptions. It also uses your Solana address rather than your 0x one, which is exactly the sort of detail that catches people the first time they try it.
Thirteen of the seventeen networks are EVM, all sharing one 0x address: Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Monad, Sei, Plasma, Berachain, HyperEVM, Sonic and Robinhood Chain.
They work, and they work the way you'd expect. Honest assessment though: the Backpack extension isn't trying to beat Rabby or MetaMask on EVM depth and it doesn't. Rabby's transaction simulation is better. MetaMask's dApp compatibility is broader, because after this many years almost everything supports it by default.
What Backpack offers instead is not needing a second extension. If your activity splits across Solana and a few EVM chains, one browser interface and one seed phrase beats a marginally better EVM experience plus the overhead of running two wallets and remembering which tab has which. If you're EVM-only, that trade doesn't apply and there's less reason to switch.
Gas varies more within this group than people expect. Ethereum mainnet can cost real money at busy times. The L2s are cheap. BNB Chain, Polygon, Monad, Sei, Berachain, HyperEVM and Sonic each use their own native token for gas, so you need a small balance of each before you can transact on them at all.
These are the genuinely differentiated additions.
Both run Move rather than the EVM, both have their own address format, and most browser wallets skip them entirely because supporting a non-EVM chain is real engineering work rather than a config entry. Running Sui, Aptos, Solana and Ethereum from one extension and one recovery phrase is something very few competitors can match.
Practical note: these addresses don't resemble your EVM or Solana ones. Copy from the receive screen inside the network you're actually on, rather than from wherever your clipboard happens to be.

Robinhood Chain went live on 1 July 2026 as a permissionless Ethereum Layer 2 built on the Arbitrum Orbit stack. It carries chain ID 4663 and pays gas in ETH with no native chain token, so you fund it with bridged ETH before you can do anything there.
Robinhood built it for tokenised real-world assets: stock tokens, ETFs, on-chain financial infrastructure. The early weeks looked nothing like that pitch. Daily DEX volume peaked above $840M in July 2026, driven mostly by memecoin trading, and the chain passed Base in daily active users within three weeks of mainnet before reaching roughly $775M TVL in early August.
One useful consequence of EVM compatibility: any wallet that allows custom networks can technically reach it. The Backpack Wallet extension supports it natively, so there's no chain ID or RPC URL to paste in and no manual setup. Worth knowing, since plenty of guides will walk you through adding it by hand.
Also worth knowing: Robinhood Chain runs independently of the Robinhood brokerage app. Balances there have nothing to do with your investment account.
You pick one chain during setup. Everything else gets added afterwards, and it takes about fifteen seconds.
Open the extension, go to wallet settings, find the network or add-wallet option, select the chain, confirm. Backpack derives the address from the recovery phrase you already have, so there's nothing new to back up and no second seed to store anywhere.
This is also the answer to the most common panic on the subject. If you reinstalled the extension or restored on a new machine and a balance looks missing, it's usually the network not being re-added rather than anything being lost. The assets are on-chain and always were. Add the network and they reappear.
This is where the browser extension earns its place over the phone app. Desktop is where most people actually use decentralised applications, and the extension injects itself into the connection prompt so Backpack shows up as an option in the wallet picker.
Two things to keep in mind. The extension needs to be on the right network before you connect, because a dApp on Base won't do anything useful with a Solana session. And some applications on smaller chains still only detect one or two wallets, usually MetaMask and Phantom, so Backpack occasionally won't appear in the list. That's the site's gap rather than the extension's.
Check the domain every time before connecting. Lookalike sites are the dominant attack running right now and the good ones are convincing.
A supported-networks page that only lists what's included isn't much use.
No Cosmos, no Tron, and no native Bitcoin custody. Backpack's branding features BTC prominently, but that sits on the exchange side of the product rather than the extension's chain list, so if Bitcoin-native storage is a requirement you'll be running a second wallet alongside it.
The other gap is depth rather than breadth. Support for a chain means you can hold, send, swap and bridge on it. It doesn't mean every feature behaves identically everywhere. Staking is richest on Solana. Collection Locking is Solana-only and limited to select collections.
The list moves. Networks get added, and occasionally details around one change.
Before a first transfer to any chain, open the extension, switch to that network, and confirm the receive address is there. Five seconds, and more reliable than any published list. Then send a test amount before the real one, which on most of these chains costs a fraction of a cent.
