10 am: Alliterative Poetry Workshop, The HL Shoshanah bas Nachman (she/her)
Description: This is a brief introduction to the poetic form used in "Beowulf" and other poems of the Anglo-Saxon period (roughly 500 - 1000 in the English kingdoms), followed by a group collaboration to construct a short poem in these forms (in modern English). Emphasis here is on "workshop"--this is a class for creating! Typically, the class produces ~10 lines in a suitably dramatic manner.

Learn the history and basics of creating your own pattern for an early 16th cent supportive dress. Meant to act as a middle layer underneath Tudor gown.
2 pm: Caritas Abundat: The music, meaning, and mysticism of Hildegard von Bingen's liturgical work, HL Giovanna Da Firenze (she/her)
Join HL Giovanna (she/her) on a brief exploration of Hildegard von Bingen's life and music. Focusing on "Caritas Abundat", we'll look at the process of interpreting a song from neumes to notes.
2 pm: Restoration, Cleaning and Care of Cast Iron Cookware, HL Bragi Oddosson (he/him)
Various methods of restoring rusty or crusty cast iron, will be shown as well as seasoning and care.
3 pm: Medieval Herbs in the Garden, HE Cecilia de Gatisbury and HL Rime al-Wadi (she/her)
The uses of common garden plants in the Middle Ages, focused on uses in the Old English Herbal. We will also discuss the care and harvest of plants. We will have a limited number of plants to take home on a first come, first serve basis for those attending the class. A suggested, but not required, donation of $2 will help defray plant costs.
