My objective is to serve teachers as a resource. I am here to support their teaching and learning. This is done in several different ways.
I provide support to teachers in the district to assist in improving their skills and ability to provide strong classroom instruction. I provide additional support for new teachers as they begin their journey in education.
I support teachers in the classroom with students either in intervention or enrichment opportunities.
I provide PD opportunities in different capacities: district-specific, site-specific, grade-level-specific, and individual PD as needed/requested.
I coach and/or model lessons for teachers.
I do teacher observations and provide feedback as requested by teachers based on the Coaching Observation Form.
I lesson plan and co-teach with teachers at their request.
I assist the Teaching and Learning Associate Superintendent as needed in regard to curriculum and instruction.
I assist our Testing Coordinator in any district or state testing as needed.
I also serve as a liaison between teachers and administrators.

District Assessment Coordinator

As District Test Coordinator, I organize all things assessment related. Throughout the year you will access different websites for training and administering state and district assessments. I can help you with accessing these sites and answering any questions you may have about the testing process. I oversee test security training, test administration training, and report training. I can come to your classroom and run practice sessions with your students if you'd like. During testing, you will see me at your site helping with the process to avoid irregularities. We receive a lot of data from assessments. I can help you access and interpret the data for your students. I can also help with PowerSchool, PowerTeacher, PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook, and Google Classroom.
K-5 Math Interventionist
My position in Aztec Schools is that of a Math Interventionist. I work with all elementary schools supporting students and teachers. This support is mainly in the form of small groups of students pulled to assist the classroom teacher by reinforcing foundational math skills. The goal is to inspire students to develop positive self-confidence in math to help with success in the classroom.

The Aztec Schools Federal Programs Office (FPO) directly administers the district's yearly applications for federal flow-through funding related to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). FPO also oversees the management of formula grant programs from the federal Office of Indian Education and a number of New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) programs. Additionally, FPO acts as a clearing house for grant writing efforts within the district.

The grant funding my office receives has programs such as the after-school tutoring program for Native American Indian students in elementary and high school as well as the Navajo Language, Culture, and Government teacher teaching at KMS and AHS. My office assists students and parents with school supplies, project supplies, and fees that are associated with education. If you are needing assistance from my office such as cultural awareness, sensitivity, responsiveness or need to bring a Native American Indian presenter(s), let's work together. English Language Learner (ELL) Coordinator (K-12) and ELL teacher for grades K-5

I screen new students and test district-wide with our annual WIDA ACCESS for ELLs. I also provide leadership on the ELL team in the development, coordination, and support of the curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning. I support our students with their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing by providing specific instruction to meet their individual needs so they can be academically successful.

I also help with screening new students and our annual testing for all of our ELs. For our newcomers, I push into classrooms, pull students out of classes, and also teach a class at both Koogler and Aztec High School. I can help teachers with finding resources, modifying or finding alternative assignments, communicating with students and parents, and brainstorming ideas to help each of our ELs to be successful.
Family Service Coordinator
As the Family Service Coordinator I work to ensure the following:
homeless children and youths are identified by school personnel and through coordination activities with other entities and agencies;
homeless children and youths enroll in, and have a full and equal opportunity to succeed in, schools of that local educational agency;
homeless families, children, and youths receive educational services for which such families, children, and youths are eligible, including Head Start and Even Start programs and preschool programs administered by the local educational agency, and referrals to health care services, dental services, mental health services, and other appropriate services;
the parent or guardian of a homeless child or youth, and any unaccompanied youth, is fully informed of all transportation services, including transportation to the school of origin, and is assisted in accessing transportation to the school.
