April 7, 2023 11am-1pm Community Room - Cochise College, Sierra Vista
A convening of regional professionals interested in growing the workforce and engaging communities around the wonders of Science Technology Engineering Art and Mathematics.
The First Annual PEAC Gathering was a great success. Fifty Five new colleagues joined for several hours to learn about each other's organizations, efforts, programs, and events. Dr. Jacqui Clay set the stage with a moving keynote talk on the value of collaboration, STEM, Ecosystems, and Systems Working. Additional information was shared by Kal Mannis with a peak at STEM Ecosystem research he has been involved with over the last 7 years, Ty White - Arizona Teacher of the Year/National Rural Teacher of the Year/Chemistry Teacher at Willcox HS talked about the impact that community partnerships makes on education. Before lunch the room was also treated to insights from three Willcox HS students involved in the Science Research Club. They shared the view from a student's perspective and how much it means to have opportunities to explore and careers and skills that will be part of their lives.
The working lunch gave time for everyone to talk, network, and share their ideas. The event came to a close with insights from Thea Van Gorp Director of the Bisbee Science Lab and Julie Euber CEO of SARSEF.
