Dear FJH Parents/Guardians,
Next week, students take their semester exams - this provides an important chance to demonstrate their learning. To help your student succeed, please review the exam schedule and information available below
Following the exams, we look forward to recognizing most of our students with the No Tardy Party! It's an exciting way to celebrate their commitment and hard work as the semester concludes. There is information about that event below as well.
Thank you for sharing your students with us each day,
Dr. Stevi Norris
7th Social Studies:
Ask your students to describe the differences between Mirabeau Lamar and Sam Houston’s presidential policies.
7th Science:
Have your students describe balanced and unbalanced forces. Students should be able to tell you what causes balanced and unbalanced forces. Ask your students to explain all the definitions of acceleration.
7th Math:
Have your student create a personal budget to help save more money. How much money do you want to save? How much money do you currently have in savings? How many chores or hours would you have to work to meet your savings goal? Create a two-step inequality to solve for the minimum number of chores or hours you would need to work to reach your target.
7th RLA:
Ask your students to explain what it means to be in harmony with nature. Have them use examples from the texts they are reading in class.
8th Social Studies:
Thomas Jefferson made the Louisiana Purchase, doubling the size of the United States. Question: What do you think were some challenges of governing such a large new country after the Louisiana Purchase?
Jefferson believed America should be a country of farmers and small towns rather than big cities. Question: Why do you think he valued this kind of lifestyle for the country?
As a leader, Jefferson had to make big decisions that would shape the future of the nation. Question: What qualities do you think a president needs to have to make decisions that affect so many people?
8th Science:
Ask your students the following questions: In what ways can we compare energy carried by different waves? 2. How can we describe and compare the properties of waves in the electromagnetic spectrum? 3. In what ways can stars be classified? 4. In what ways are the properties of stars related?
8th Math:
Ask your student to think of a practical application for a linear equation in their everyday life. For example, someone who babysits might charge a certain rate per hour. Can your student write a linear equation that can be used to determine how much money will be earned for a variety of times worked? How would the equation change if the babysitter decided to charge more for the first hour than for subsequent hours?
8th RLA:
Ask your students to explain how places shape who they are. Have them use examples from the texts they are reading in class.
Parents, we need your feedback! Your voice is essential to driving improvements at FJH!

The Forte Junior High band would like to invite you all out to the Winter Concert next Tuesday, December 16th in the Azle High School auditorium. The beginner students in 7th and 8th grade will perform at 6:00 PM and the performing bands will perform starting at 7:15 PM. All of the students have worked extremely hard to prepare and we would love to see you there!
Forte Junior High (FJH) is hosting a "Tardy Party" on December 18th to celebrate and reward student punctuality. This effort addresses the high rate of tardiness, as the school recorded over 900 tardies in the last nine weeks. To qualify, students must be on time to each of their classes starting Monday, November 17th up until the party on December 18th. Students cannot have more than two (2) tardies during this time frame, or they will be disqualified. Qualified students will attend the party, which includes various activities and a concession stand where items can be purchased, so students should bring money if they'd like to purchase treats! Additionally, students with NO tardies for the entire second nine-weeks will receive a $1 coupon to be used at the concession stand , and students with NO tardies all year will be entered into a drawing for prizes. We encourage you to discuss the importance of being on time with your student so they can attend this event.
As the semester concludes, we want to inform parents about the upcoming cumulative Semester Exams. These exams will cover all material taught throughout the semester and are designed to match the rigor of each course.
Please note the schedule below and encourage your student to attend school on time on these important days:
Monday, December 15th: Math, Science, and Electives Exams
Tuesday, December 16th: Reading, Social Studies, and Electives Exams
Wednesday, December 17th: Make-up Exam Date
These exams are a significant part of your student's grade, accounting for 15% of their final semester average (Please note - last weeks newsletter incorrectly stated these were worth 10%, I apologize for the misinformation). Students will take an exam for all of their courses. We urge all students to take these exams seriously by preparing and studying diligently over the next few weeks.
Teachers are available for additional tutoring if your student needs extra support in preparation. Please refer to the tutoring schedule (provided below) for available times.
The results are in for the first week of voting for the Most Driven Team of the Year Award presented by Higginbotham and Azle ISD is in the top 10! The school that receives the most votes will receive a $10,000 donation back to the school! Only a few hundred votes separate all the finalists, so keep voting! Voting ends 12/31.
The 2025-2026 Forte Junior High yearbooks are for sale! Order now at at the discounted rate of $30 - prices will increase in December!
Please be aware that we DO NOT allow Uber Eats, DoorDash or similar companies to deliver to school. This includes during lunch times or for athletics pre-game meals.
This is for the safety of all our students. We cannot have fast food delivery drivers walking around the school grounds looking for students.
If any food delivery is made to school we will refuse delivery. If the company insists on leaving it, it will be confiscated. Our school will not be involved in the refund of any money lost.
The school cafe has the license to offer healthy food options for students to purchase.
If a student forgets their lunch, a parent or guardian may drop it off at the front office; however, we ask that this be done only when necessary. Frequent lunch drop-offs can cause students to lose valuable lunchtime while retrieving their food and place additional demands on our office staff to ensure it reaches the right student. We appreciate your help in limiting lunch deliveries to true “as needed” situations.
Reminder to parents/guardians about the Mandatory Accelerated Instruction schedule required for designated students under House Bill (HB) 1416. Students who were given hours were previously notified.

If you are unsure whether your student is assigned to this mandatory instruction, please contact your grade-level administrator immediately for clarification.
Thank you for your partnership in ensuring your student's academic compliance and success.
If you have received notification that your student is required to attend make-up hours to recover instructional time, please note the following specific dates and details. Students must attend these sessions until all assigned hours are successfully recovered by the end of the semester.

Thank you for your partnership in prioritizing your student's academic success.
At Forte, we are striving for academic success in our Hornets, and we believe that strong partnership between home and school is crucial to achieving this goal.
Some students will be bringing home letters regarding their current grades and academic standing. We ask that you read the letter carefully to understand your student's progress. Please let your grade-level administrator know if you have any questions or concerns after reviewing the document.
In order to help support your student’s continued growth, we encourage you to:
Check their grades regularly on Skyward to monitor progress in real-time.
Maintain open communication with teachers regarding assignments and performance.
Every teacher offers tutoring twice a week on their scheduled days. Morning tutorials are 8:00 - 8:30, and after school tutorials go until 4:30. This tutoring is specific to the teacher and their subject for things like test corrections, homework, makeup assignments, etc.
Some additional tutoring opportunities have also for students who need targeted support based off their prior year STAAR scores. If your student was identified to attend, you would have received communication. Those tutoring sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00.
We are happy to welcome lunch visitors to campus starting in September. A few guidelines/what to expect:
You can only bring food for your student.
There will be a designated parent section for you and your student to sit.
Other students are not permitted to join, unless you are listed in their emergency contact list in Skyward.
Please be aware of lunch times:
12:02 - 12:32 - 7th Grade Lunch
12:54 - 1:24 - 8th Grade Lunch
