Dear FJH Parents/Guardians,
i want to start off with a huge shout-out to you and your students: We have officially hit our 95% attendance goal for two weeks in a row! To celebrate that stellar attendance, we’ve been hosting our Friday "Show Up Shin Digs." We’ve been lucky enough to have some beautiful weather lately, so we took the party outside! Watching the students enjoy some well-earned free time during lunch has been a highlight for our staff. It’s a great way for them to decompress and just be kids.
On the academic front, we’ve officially wrapped up our first round of STAAR testing. While testing can naturally bring a little bit of nerves, I was so proud to hear our students reporting that they felt confident and ready. This is my favorite time of year because we finally get to see all that hard work "click." It’s the moment where everything they’ve learned since August shines through. We are keeping that positive momentum going as we head into the Science and Social Studies STAAR this week. I can’t wait to hear how they feel once they’ve crossed that finish line!
Thank you for sharing your students with us each day,
Dr. Stevi Norris
7th Social Studies:
What significant events impacted Texans during the mid-20th century? (What happened?)
What motivated Texans to join in the war effort? (What were they thinking?)
What economic changes were happening that contributed to the Great Depression? (Why then and there?)
What can we learn about resilience from studying the lives of Texans during the mid-twentieth century? (What do we think about that?)
7th Science:
Ask your students the following:
Describe how humans both depend on and affect the groundwater and surface water in watersheds.
What is the difference between organisms that are producers and consumers in an ecosystem?
Also, ask your students how they study or how they should study for our science CUA exams. (If they struggle to answer this or have no study plan, suggest the following: complete and review the unit driving question. final summary forms in their binder, study notes in their binder, review presentations in the note section of each unit in Canvas)
7th Math:
While working with your student at home, you may find the following vocabulary terms helpful in your communication about interpreting data. These are terms your student will be encouraged to use throughout our explorations and during our math chats, which are short, whole-group discussions at the conclusion of each activity.
Bar graph: a graph that uses horizontal or vertical rectangular bars to show each category of qualitative data
Circle graph (pie chart): a visual representation of data, made by dividing a circle into sectors that each represent part of a whole
Comparison: the process or results of looking for similarities and/or differences among sets of objects or numbers
Data: a collection of organized facts, usually in numerical form, words, measurements, or descriptions
Dot plot (line plot): a method of visually displaying a distribution of data values where each data value is shown as a dot or mark above a number line
Equivalent: equal in value or amount
Population: a discrete group for the purposes of data collection and analysis
Problem: a question to solve
Random sampling: a selection chosen by change and which has no predictability
Sample: one part of the given population
7th RLA:
What test strategies are you using in class when taking a test? Which genre is your favorite and why?
8th Social Studies:
What do you think were the biggest challenges of trying to "stitch" the country back together after it had been physically and emotionally divided by war? If you were living back then, do you think you would have preferred the South to stay mostly rural and agricultural or to build big industrial cities? Why?
8th Science:
In what ways does a variation of traits within a population of plants enhance the survival of the species? How is this the same or different with animals?
8th Math:
What 4 types of transformations are there, and what does the rule look like?
8th RLA:
Ask your students to share the stories with you in class that discuss the fight for freedom. This quarter’s essential question is “What will people risk to be free?”
We invite you to share your feedback regarding your experience at our campuses this year. To collect your insights, we are again using ThoughtExchange. All responses are completely anonymous.
How to Participate: To ensure we have accurate data for each location, please complete a separate survey for every campus where you have a student enrolled:
One Campus: If all your children attend the same school, you only need to complete the survey once.
Multiple Campuses: If your children attend different schools, please complete the survey for each respective campus.
While we understand this may feel redundant for families with students at multiple locations, this specific data is critical for analyzing the unique needs of each school.
Please submit your feedback by April 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Your input is invaluable as we identify our strengths and target areas for improvement. Thank you for your time and your partnership in helping us better serve the students and families of Azle ISD.
If your student won't be returning to FJH, we'll miss them; however, to help us plan, please contact Mrs. Breito, our registrar, at Crystal.Breito@azleisd.net so she can get you the withdrawal paperwork. This helps us with planning, and it will help you with a smoother enrollment at your next school!
At Forte Junior High, we are committed to partnering with you to ensure every student successfully completes their coursework. As we move through the school year, please be aware that students must pass all four core academic subjects—Math, Science, History, and English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR)—to be promoted to the next grade level. We want to stress that summer school requirements will only apply to students who are failing a core class for the year based on their final year-to-date average of Cycles 1, 2, and 3. For those who do not meet the passing requirements, in-person summer school will be held Monday through Thursday (8:30–12:30) during the first three weeks of June at a cost of $75 per course. Please note that transportation for summer sessions is not provided.
Students who are currently in danger of failing will meet with a campus administrator very soon to discuss their progress, and an official email containing specific details will be sent home to those families. In the meantime, we encourage you to monitor grades regularly through Skyward, ensure all assignments are prioritized and turned in on time, and have your student attend scheduled tutoring sessions with their teachers. If you have any immediate questions, please contact your student's teacher or grade-level administrator.

Important Reminders for Parents & Guardians:
💤 Rest Up: Ensure your student gets a good night's sleep before each test.
🍳 Breakfast: Start the day right with a hearty, healthy breakfast.
🔌 Charged Chromebook: Double-check that their school-issued Chromebook is fully charged and ready to go!
📅 No Appointments: Please avoid scheduling doctor's appointments on test days.
🚫 Campus Visitors: To ensure a quiet and focused environment, our campus is closed to all visitors on these dates.
Let's make this a great testing season! If you have any questions, please email Ms. Paden at chelsea.paden@azleisd.net.
To give our students the best environment for success, please keep these points in mind:
Closed Campus: We are a closed campus on testing days. No lunch visitors or outside food deliveries, please.
Minimize Disruptions: Please avoid scheduling appointments or early sign-outs that would interrupt testing sessions.
Dress Code: Students must follow the standard dress code. No pajamas, slippers, or blankets are allowed on campus.
Just a reminder, our students are capable of great things.
We aren't asking for perfection or "mastery" from every student. What we are looking for is growth and effort. This is their moment to show how much they’ve learned this year and to prove that Forte Junior High is home to the hardworking, talented students we see every day. Let’s work together to make sure their hard work gets the recognition it deserves.
Junior VASE is a TAEA-sponsored Visual Arts event recognizing exemplary intermediate, middle school, and junior high student artwork. We are excited to see how our students do for this amazing event!
You can learn more about the event here: https://www.taea.org/JRVASE/default.asp
If your address is zoned for Azle JH instead of Forte JH for the 26-27 SY and you would like to complete a transfer request for your child to remain at Forte, please complete an application for your child. The application is open until May 1, but I encourage you to not wait on getting these submitted. You will need to submit one application for each child. You can locate your child's ID number and required documents to upload in Skyward. Once you input the student's ID # into the application, the student's information will auto-populate. Read the application carefully and complete it thoroughly. There are two drop downs with a list of campus names.
For intra-district requests - The first drop down is the campus that your address is zoned to. The 2nd drop down is the campus that you are requesting to transfer to. For out of district requests, you will need to enter the district name and campus that your address is zoned to and then select the requested campus.
There are many factors to consider when approving requests & no request is guaranteed. To read more about our transfer guidelines, click here - https://www.azleisd.net/o/aisd/page/student-transfers

Our district is excited to offer parents access to Qustodio, a leading parental control solution, to help manage your child’s school-issued Chromebook. This tool is designed to support healthy digital habits and provide peace of mind when devices are used at home.
With Qustodio, you can:
Monitor Activity: View summaries and detailed timelines of websites visited and search terms used.
Set Boundaries: Establish daily time limits and personalized schedules for study or bedtime.
Filter Content: Restrict access to specific categories like gaming or social media.
Pause the Internet: Instantly suspend access to encourage breaks or family time.
Getting Started: You can also extend this protection to one personal device per child at no additional cost. To set up your account, scan the QR code in this linked. PDF
Testing season is right around the corner! Because all exams are taken digitally, it is vital that your student’s Chromebook is in peak working condition. To ensure a smooth testing experience, please take a moment to inspect your student's device for any issues like missing keys, broken screens, or lost chargers.
If your device needs attention, now is the time to act! Repairs for keyboards or screens are $25, and replacement chargers are $20. Payments can be made via cash, check (payable to Azle ISD), or online at the Azle ISD Technology page. Please refer to the flyer for full details and contact information. Thank you for helping us ensure your student is ready for success on exam day!
We are so incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication our students are putting into their Accelerated Instruction hours (HB 1416)! It has been wonderful to see their growth, and we want to do everything we can to help them cross that finish line with total confidence.
To keep you in the loop on their progress, we sent home personalized updated 1416 letters this week. These letters are designed to show you exactly how close your student is to reaching their goal and how many hours they have left to shine.
We would love your partnership in helping them prioritize these final steps so they can stay ahead of the curve and finish strong. Please take a moment to peek in your mail or your student’s backpack to find their update. We are cheering them on every step of the way—let's get those final hours checked off the list together!
Attention parents of students with Attendance Recovery hours:
let’s get those credits back on track! We have plenty of opportunities for your student to make up time every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM, plus our extended sessions (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM) on the following dates:
January 23
February 5
February 20
March 6
Please note: Hours from the first semester have rolled over, and credits are currently on hold until these hours are cleared. Because we want to see those holds lifted, it is vital that students complete their time as soon as possible. Please remember that bus service is not provided, so students will need pre-arranged transportation for pick-up. Let’s work together to cross this off the list and secure those credits!
We know that life happens and sometimes your student needs to miss a day of school. To help us ensure every absence is recorded correctly, please remember to submit an excuse—whether it’s a doctor’s note or a signed note from you—whenever your child is away. Just a reminder, all unexcused absences count toward truancy.
You can easily submit these in two ways:
Online: Upload them directly to your student’s Skyward account under the "Attendance" tab.
In-Person: Have your student bring a physical copy to the Attendance Office.
Per our student handbook, please try to get these notes to us within three days of the absence so we can update your student's records promptly and avoid any truancy concerns. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to our Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Murray: kmurray@azleisd.net.
Thank you for your help in supporting your student’s success!
Please be aware that we DO NOT allow Uber Eats, DoorDash or similar companies to deliver to school. This includes during lunch times or for athletics pre-game meals.
This is for the safety of all our students. We cannot have fast food delivery drivers walking around the school grounds looking for students.
If any food delivery is made to school we will refuse delivery. If the company insists on leaving it, it will be confiscated. Our school will not be involved in the refund of any money lost.
The school cafe has the license to offer healthy food options for students to purchase.
If a student forgets their lunch, a parent or guardian may drop it off at the front office; however, we ask that this be done only when necessary. Frequent lunch drop-offs can cause students to lose valuable lunchtime while retrieving their food and place additional demands on our office staff to ensure it reaches the right student. We appreciate your help in limiting lunch deliveries to true “as needed” situations.
Every teacher offers tutoring twice a week on their scheduled days. Morning tutorials are 8:00 - 8:30, and after school tutorials go until 4:30. This tutoring is specific to the teacher and their subject for things like test corrections, homework, makeup assignments, etc.
Some additional tutoring opportunities have also for students who need targeted support based off their prior year STAAR scores. If your student was identified to attend, you would have received communication. Those tutoring sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00.
We are happy to welcome lunch visitors to campus starting in September. A few guidelines/what to expect:
You can only bring food for your student.
There will be a designated parent section for you and your student to sit.
Other students are not permitted to join, unless you are listed in their emergency contact list in Skyward.
Please be aware of lunch times:
12:02 - 12:32 - 7th Grade Lunch
12:54 - 1:24 - 8th Grade Lunch
