Dear FJH Parents/Guardians,
One of the best parts of my day is seeing the "lightbulb moments" in our classrooms. Our students are naturally driven by wonder, but we know that excitement can sometimes get lost in translation by the time they hit the dinner table. When we ask the standard "How was school?", we often get the standard "It was fine."
We want to help you flip the script! By asking targeted questions, you invite your child to step into the role of the expert and show them that their learning is truly meaningful. So, why wait? Check out your student’s grade-level topic in our Table Talk section below. These specific prompts are designed to spark a real conversation, letting your child highlight what they’ve mastered and extend their thinking even further.
Thank you for sharing your students with us each day,
Dr. Stevi Norris
7th Social Studies:
Have your students explain how the cattle drives in Texas were affected by the development of the railroad system.
7th Science:
Ask students to describe the basic properties of major solar system objects and how gravity affects the motion of solar system objects.
Ask students to describe the evidence that supports that the Earth has changed over time. Students should mention items like fossil evidence, plate tectonics, etc.
Ask students to describe how plate tectonics has changed the Earth over time.
7th Math:
Have your student explain how to identify types of prisms and find their volumes.
7th RLA:
Students are working on a multigenre project to conclude Unit 4, which focuses on space. Please encourage your students to show you or explain the type of writing they are doing in class and the tone they are using.
What words are you using to give the inspiration/unnerving tone/feeling? You could also ask if that reflects or relates to their own feelings about space exploration. (They are writing a microfiction, a poem, and an informational text.)
8th Social Studies:
Students have been learning about the Oregon Trail and the Gold Rush—families had to fit their entire lives into a wagon about the size of a large walk-in closet. If we had to move across the country today and could only bring what fit in our car trunk, what three specific items would you fight to keep?
8th Science:
What is primary and secondary succession?
How does succession affect populations and species diversity?
8th Math:
Have your student explain how to find the area of circles and the surface area of prisms and cylinders.
8th RLA:
What lessons from learning about Anne Frank can we apply to our modern lives?
Forte Fun Day is happening February 20! We want every single student to be part of the celebration, so now is the time to encourage your student to stay focused and keep that momentum going. To join the party, students need to keep their eyes on the prize: getting to all classes on time, wearing their student ID every day, and—most importantly—passing all their classes! To stay eligible for the fun, students must also keep a clean record with no after-school detentions, ISS, OSS, or DAEP. Let’s finish this stretch strong so everyone can enjoy the games and music—we can't wait to see your students there celebrating their success!
For Eligible Students:
Dress comfortably [still in dress code]; there will be activities inside and outside!
Bring Cash - the concession stand will be open for business!
For Ineligible Students:
Bring your charged Chromebook and something to write with.
Any student who brings $1 cash can wear their hat on Friday 2/20!
Reminder from Miss Dean:
Choir pre-UIL is this Thursday! Students will wear their choir t-shirt and jeans to go to the high school and sing.
Please see the email sent by Miss Dean on 2/11 for all the details.
Please see flyer for more information!
If your address is zoned for Azle JH instead of Forte JH for the 26-27 SY and you would like to complete a transfer request for your child to remain at Forte, please complete an application for your child. The application is open until May 1, but I encourage you to not wait on getting these submitted. You will need to submit one application for each child. You can locate your child's ID number and required documents to upload in Skyward. Once you input the student's ID # into the application, the student's information will auto-populate. Read the application carefully and complete it thoroughly. There are two drop downs with a list of campus names.
For intra-district requests - The first drop down is the campus that your address is zoned to. The 2nd drop down is the campus that you are requesting to transfer to. For out of district requests, you will need to enter the district name and campus that your address is zoned to and then select the requested campus.
There are many factors to consider when approving requests & no request is guaranteed. To read more about our transfer guidelines, click here - https://www.azleisd.net/o/aisd/page/student-transfers

Testing season is right around the corner! Because all exams are taken digitally, it is vital that your student’s Chromebook is in peak working condition. To ensure a smooth testing experience, please take a moment to inspect your student's device for any issues like missing keys, broken screens, or lost chargers.
If your device needs attention, now is the time to act! Repairs for keyboards or screens are $25, and replacement chargers are $20. Payments can be made via cash, check (payable to Azle ISD), or online at the Azle ISD Technology page. Please refer to the flyer for full details and contact information. Thank you for helping us ensure your student is ready for success on exam day!
We are so incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication our students are putting into their Accelerated Instruction hours (HB 1416)! It has been wonderful to see their growth, and we want to do everything we can to help them cross that finish line with total confidence.
To keep you in the loop on their progress, we sent home personalized updated 1416 letters this week. These letters are designed to show you exactly how close your student is to reaching their goal and how many hours they have left to shine.
We would love your partnership in helping them prioritize these final steps so they can stay ahead of the curve and finish strong. Please take a moment to peek in your mail or your student’s backpack to find their update. We are cheering them on every step of the way—let's get those final hours checked off the list together!
Attention parents of students with Attendance Recovery hours:
let’s get those credits back on track! We have plenty of opportunities for your student to make up time every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM, plus our extended sessions (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM) on the following dates:
January 23
February 5
February 20
March 6
Please note: Hours from the first semester have rolled over, and credits are currently on hold until these hours are cleared. Because we want to see those holds lifted, it is vital that students complete their time as soon as possible. Please remember that bus service is not provided, so students will need pre-arranged transportation for pick-up. Let’s work together to cross this off the list and secure those credits!
Exciting times are ahead for our future Hornets! 🐝
As your student prepares to transition to high school, we want to make sure you have all the tools and information needed for a successful start. Please join the AHS Counseling Department for a dedicated 8th-grade information session focused on the 2026-2027 school year.
Date: Thursday, February 26
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Location: Azle High School Auditorium
This meeting is vital for ensuring your student is on the right track from day one. We will cover:
Graduation Requirements: Understanding what credits are needed to walk the stage.
Academic Pathways: Exploring the diverse elective and career pathways available at AHS.
Counselor Guidance: Getting expert insights to help your student make informed scheduling decisions.
Don't miss this opportunity to get a head start on the high school experience! We can't wait to see the Class of 2030 parents there. 🎓
We know that life happens and sometimes your student needs to miss a day of school. To help us ensure every absence is recorded correctly, please remember to submit an excuse—whether it’s a doctor’s note or a signed note from you—whenever your child is away. Just a reminder, all unexcused absences count toward truancy.
You can easily submit these in two ways:
Online: Upload them directly to your student’s Skyward account under the "Attendance" tab.
In-Person: Have your student bring a physical copy to the Attendance Office.
Per our student handbook, please try to get these notes to us within three days of the absence so we can update your student's records promptly and avoid any truancy concerns. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to our Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Murray: kmurray@azleisd.net.
Thank you for your help in supporting your student’s success!
The 2025-2026 Forte Junior High yearbooks are for sale! Order now at at the discounted rate of $40 - prices will increase as the semester continues.
Please be aware that we DO NOT allow Uber Eats, DoorDash or similar companies to deliver to school. This includes during lunch times or for athletics pre-game meals.
This is for the safety of all our students. We cannot have fast food delivery drivers walking around the school grounds looking for students.
If any food delivery is made to school we will refuse delivery. If the company insists on leaving it, it will be confiscated. Our school will not be involved in the refund of any money lost.
The school cafe has the license to offer healthy food options for students to purchase.
If a student forgets their lunch, a parent or guardian may drop it off at the front office; however, we ask that this be done only when necessary. Frequent lunch drop-offs can cause students to lose valuable lunchtime while retrieving their food and place additional demands on our office staff to ensure it reaches the right student. We appreciate your help in limiting lunch deliveries to true “as needed” situations.
Every teacher offers tutoring twice a week on their scheduled days. Morning tutorials are 8:00 - 8:30, and after school tutorials go until 4:30. This tutoring is specific to the teacher and their subject for things like test corrections, homework, makeup assignments, etc.
Some additional tutoring opportunities have also for students who need targeted support based off their prior year STAAR scores. If your student was identified to attend, you would have received communication. Those tutoring sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 - 5:00.
We are happy to welcome lunch visitors to campus starting in September. A few guidelines/what to expect:
You can only bring food for your student.
There will be a designated parent section for you and your student to sit.
Other students are not permitted to join, unless you are listed in their emergency contact list in Skyward.
Please be aware of lunch times:
12:02 - 12:32 - 7th Grade Lunch
12:54 - 1:24 - 8th Grade Lunch
