The Screening for Syphilis in Emergency Departments Resource Guide aims to provide awareness and information regarding the importance of screening and treating syphilis in ED settings to better detect and respond to syphilis in Arizona.

Providers can order Lentocilin through TopRx. Lentocilin is a Portuguese-manufactured version of penicillin G benzathine and can be used to treat cases of syphilis as appropriate when there are barriers to utilizing Bicillin® L-A, such as during a shortage. The goal of this plan is to to enhance the surveillance and control of suspected cephalosporin-resistant gonorrhea in Arizona through clinician and public health protocols. This includes CDC recommendations, criteria for suspected treatment failure of gonorrhea, and next steps.
