Grade 8

Social Studies: Civics

WELCOME

Class overview

The Social Studies curriculum in 8th grade is called U.S. Civics. This course will be part History, part Government, and part Citizenship all based in the United States. As many of you know, Civics is an important and sometimes complex subject, so we will begin to break down our government to a more simple level of understanding that will help students for years to come. We will be using text, primary sources, articles, simulations, and many other different strategies to make the content really stick in our minds!

What does Civics mean to you?

About Your Teachers

Miss McNeill - 8 Purple

Hello and welcome! I am from Southern NH and moved to central MA in 2015. I graduated from Keene State College with my undergraduate degree and American International College with my masters degree. I love all things history especially American History! I also enjoy spending time with my friends, family, and dog Milo. I love dancing, music, snowboarding and recently picked up sewing again!

Mr. Lambert - 8 Orange

Hello and welcome back to school! I am from Shirley, MA and attended Springfield College many years ago. I enjoy discussing all things Social Studies: Geography, US History and most recently Civics and Civil Rights. When I am not having a ball with my two year old daughter Maggie, cycling has filled my time this summer!
