Founded in 1911, we are one of the oldest American Women's Clubs outside of the United States. 

Charter members included Louise Woods-Beckman and Carrie Chapman Catt. Cecilia Graves, wife of the American minister to Sweden (at a time when there was no embassy, only a legation), served as our first president.

Our first election was held at the Grand Hôtel Stockholm. Since then, more than 50 women have served as president, including the legendary Peggy Johnson, Ruth Eldstrom, and Estelle Bernadotte.

Since our founding, we have grown from 16 charter members to a time of more than 300. While our membership has fluctuated and priorities have shifted over the decades, our purpose has remained constant for over a century — providing warmth, support, fun, and community to American women and their families living in Sweden.
