Digital Technologies 2020

Project Brief

I'm designing my game for the Greymouth Library. I will be using GameFroot to get ideas and create my game. We will be using the Electric Garden to monitoring a garden that we will create at Greymouth high school. In my game you will have to find your way through a forest and clear a stream to water the garden. In my group I will be working with Ryan, Sophie and Miro.

Designing my game

Today I have been using Game Froot to design a game. In my game the objective is to collect all of the items to finish. My game is based in a park where the character has to move around. A few of my class mates checked out my game and left some feedback on it, and there feedback was helpful.

adding a challenge

Today my learning intention is to play and test two games. My goal is to find the challenges in the two games.

Oat the goat is a game/story where you go through a journey to the top of a mountain. During that journey you come across some characters who are being bullied, you then have to chose whether you help them or not.

The next game we went on was Curriculum for the Future, I found this game challenging because you have to convince some people about why you should do something. I also found this game fun.

designing a garden layout

Today I will be designing a layout for my garden. I may also use the layout for the background for my game.

How We designed our Garden

We first went out to the garden area and we Walked around and then drew a basic layout of the area. Then we came back to the class to got onto the GARDENA garden planner. We then created a 2D garden on the Gardena garden planner. I created the area from my layout I drew I then added some plants and trees.

Game Promotion

The aim of my game is to get all the way to the end

You have to jump between the platforms and get the keys to unlock the next areas. Once you have unlocked the next area you have to try and find the next key to unlock the next area. Each level get harder and there will be more spikes and more bad guys.

If you complete my game five times you will get a prize.

I still have to work on my game. Miro has tested my game and he gave my some feedback on my game. He said that the game was hard and he said that I have to work on my game to finish it.

Testing my game

We created our games to show at the Grey District Library but due to Covid-19 we were unable to go there to show off our games so we ended up sharing them at the Grey High Library. So when we were creating our games we testing them with different people in our class, we then had some of the people from Lake Brunner School test them because they haven't been coming because they waited until alert level one to come back to Technology. Once the Lake Brunner students had tested them we had some year 13s come and test our games. The year 13s thought our games were fun and interesting.

I think that our games are interesting, fun and some are quite challenging to complete. I had fun playing them and I liked that some of them were quite challenging.
