Message from Superintendent
Dr. David Dumon
Dear Altar Valley Families,
At Altar Valley, our goal is to provide a personalized experience where everyone knows your name and makes you feel part of the Altar Valley Family. To maintain this environment and to continue the great services and programs, we are asking our community to vote on November 7, 2023.
The Altar Valley School District Governing Board is asking voters to reauthorize the 10% Maintenance and Operations Budget. The M & O override election would allow AVSD to continue to fund:
Free full day Kindergarten,
Competitive teacher and staff salaries,
Small class sizes, and
Free athletic programs.
This Override was originally approved by voters in 2002 and reapproved in 2008, 2014, and 2019. This is NOT a new tax; it is a CONTINUATION of an existing tax to maintain our current standards.
This month I would like to invite you all to attend the 16th Annual Community Festival at Robles Elementary. This would be a great time to visit Robles Elementary campus and see firsthand how amazing our school community is!
In my August Message I shared some points of pride in AVSD and this month I would like to share a few more great things that are going on districtwide:
Altar Valley recently added safety reflective film to our exterior windows and security cameras throughout our district to continue to ensure that our students and staff are safe.
I am excited to share that our Family Resource Center at Robles Elementary is moving forward in the planning process and is currently looking for someone to join our Altar Valley Team as our Family Resource Coordinator.
o You can apply at www.altarvalleyschools.org / Employment.
Our new cafeteria tables are being enjoyed at both schools. Come on out and have lunch with your child.
We are proud that we are able to maintain Small Class Sizes.
Maintaining competitive teacher and staff salaries to recruit the best staff is an ongoing focus and I am proud to share that all classroom K-8 are staffed with highly qualified certified teachers.
We are proud to be providing free services (no cost to students and families) that include:
o Free Full-day kindergarten for all students
o Free Sports for middle school students
o Free before and after school tutoring and summer school STEM classes
I hope all of our Grandparents got a chance to come out and enjoy our Grandparent Luncheon Day on September 12. It was great to see so many Grandparents at both schools!
All Veterans please plan to join us November 9 for our Veterans Day Luncheon.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in creating a community where we all Build, Grow, Flourish, and Succeed!
Sincerely,
Dr. Dave Dumon
