Community Collaboration at AVSD

Happy October! It is hard to believe we are nearly one-fourth of the way through this school year. As we plan for the 2nd quarter of school, I would like to revisit Goal 2 of our Blueprint for Success that states Altar Valley School District (AVSD) will provide equitable opportunities that strengthen collaboration within the community. With our goal in mind, this month, I would like to highlight some past events and share what is coming for the month of October.

Celebrations:

Grandparents Day was a great success with over 140 grandparents attending both schools.

Thank you to all who attended Parent Teacher Conferences and please remember your child’s teacher is always available to meet.

Altar Valley Middle School Sports finished 1st quarter sports Volleyball and Football. It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance at our home games. Quarter 2 sports, Basketball and Soccer will be starting soon.

Family Fun Night (FFN) had over 240 students and family members in attendance. Those that attended enjoyed a meal of chili cheese dogs and chili cheese tater tots.  After dinner, families had their choice of a variety of activities including make-and-take arts and crafts, Zen coloring, a STEM activity, volleyball, and other presentations.  Students also got to choose a free book to take home. The next FFN event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16 at Robles Elementary.

Upcoming Events:

• October 1 – The 15th Annual Three Points / Robles Junction Community Festival 3-7pm at Robles Elementary

• October 3 -7 – Students in grades 2-8 will be taking their Benchmark to assess what was taught and learned during the 1st quarter of school. Please be on the lookout for information regarding the standards your child mastered.

• October 13 – Bobcats of Excellence

• October 10-14 – Spirit week at both schools

• October 17-21 – Fall Break, No School

• October 24 – Eagles of Excellence

• October 26 – Anti-Bullying Assembly at Robles Elementary
