"Preparing for Success: Key Steps for Students and Families This February"
Dear Robles Bobcat Families,
As we step into February, I want to take a moment to recognize the dedication and hard work of our students, staff, and families during this critical third quarter. The effort we all invest now plays a key role in ensuring our students are prepared for the upcoming Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA). For our 3rd graders especially, this is an important time as they work toward meeting the Move On When Reading (MOWR) requirement. The MOWR law requires that 3rd-grade students demonstrate sufficient reading skills to be promoted to the 4th grade. Ensuring our students meet this requirement is a top priority, and we appreciate your partnership in supporting their success.
Here are some simple yet effective ways to support your child’s learning at home:
Help with nightly homework: Creating a quiet and focused environment for completing homework reinforces the learning happening in the classroom.
Read together: Encourage your child to read to you every night. This builds fluency, comprehension, and a love of reading.
Practice math fact fluency: Focus on grade-level math facts to build accuracy and speed. Here’s a guide for each grade:
○ 1st Grade: Addition
○ 2nd Grade: Subtraction
○ 3rd Grade: Multiplication
○ 4th Grade: Division
○ 5th Grade: Mixed math facts
Ensure proper rest and punctuality: A good night’s sleep and arriving on time at 8:30 a.m. are essential for your child’s daily success.
We have some exciting events this month that I hope to see your family participate in:
Spring Picture Day is on Wednesday, February 19th. Be sure to mark your calendar and have your child dressed to impress.
Family Fun Night is on Wednesday, February 26th. Join us for an evening filled with fun activities, community bonding, and memories to last a lifetime. More details will be sent home soon.
Your partnership is the foundation of our students’ success. Let’s work together to ensure that every student at Robles Elementary feels supported, confident, and ready to excel. Thank you for all you do to support our school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warm regards,
Dustie Gunn

Kids in the before-school LEGO class at Robles walk into a room full of colorful bricks and endless fun. They jump right into the LEGO bins, ready to build something new or make their old creations even better. The room is full of laughter, smiles, and the happy sounds of LEGO pieces clicking together, making it an exciting way to start the day.
Each class has a cool theme or project, like building towers, creating speedy cars, or designing fun LEGO worlds. As kids build, they learn to solve tricky problems, stay patient, and make a plan. They feel proud when their awesome creations are complete!
Kids also work together, sharing ideas and helping each other. Teachers are always there to cheer them on and give helpful tips. By the end, kids leave with amazing LEGO creations, big smiles, and the confidence to try even more cool ideas.
Robles Folklorico
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You can find the Robles Elementary kids setting up and warming up for Folklorico. Folklorico at Robles has flourished in such a marvelous way. With 32 kids in attendance from Pr-ek to 5th grade. Folklorico has opened the doors to many who had stage fright, are shy or have difficulty making friends. The Folklorico group has become a beautiful little family, with older kids making sure the little ones are following the steps and the little ones keep everyone on their toes. Twirling dresses, Bows, flowers, and charo shoes, are only the beginning to this exciting adventure.
Ballet folklórico is a traditional dance style that combines ballet techniques with local folk culture to tell stories about a region's traditions, beliefs, and spirit. The term baile folklórico is Spanish for "folkloric dance".
