Spring at AVMS: Testing, Team Spirit,
and Family Events
Spring is here, and April will be an important and exciting month for our students at AVMS! One of the biggest events this month is AASA state testing, which will be conducted weekly throughout April through April 15th. During this time, student attendance is extremely important. Being present and on time helps students perform their best and ensures they have the opportunity to show what they have learned this year. We appreciate your support in making sure students arrive ready to do their best.
Please also note that there will be no school for the Spring holiday on Friday, April 3rd, and Monday, April 6th. We hope our families enjoy the break and take some time to relax before we head into an important testing period.
Our AVMS baseball and softball teams have several games coming up this month. We would love to see our community come out and support our student-athletes!
Away Games
April 14 – at Calabasas
April 16 – at Sahuarita Middle School
April 30 – at Coatimundi
Home Games
April 21 – vs. Safford Middle School
April 28 – vs. Coatimundi Middle School
We will also be hosting our last Family Fun Night of the year on April 15th at AVMS. This is always a great opportunity for families to come together, enjoy activities, and celebrate our school community. We hope to see many of you there!
For our 8th-grade families preparing for the California field trip, please keep the following important deadlines in mind:
March 23 – Final total number of attendees reported to the trip company
April 2 – Final payment due
May 11 – All permission forms and waivers due
May 13 – AVMS Site Council Meeting
May 14 – Last Day of After School Programming
May 16–18 – 8th Grade Field Trip to California
May 19 – 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, 6:00 PM
May 20 – Last Day of School (Early Release Day)
As we move into the final months of the school year, we appreciate the continued partnership between our families, staff, and students. Thank you for supporting AVMS and helping our students succeed.
Sincerely,
Riki Valdez
