Graduations Requirements

-A final credit review of 25 earned AHS credits is required to walk in commencement and receive a diploma. Any concerns, please reach out to pclark@avonworth.k12.pa.us to schedule a credit review meeting.

-All graduates must achieve a passing grade in English 12 (Academic or AP) and 4th Core Flex Credit

-Complete a Graduation Project approved, presented, and evaluated.(See Requirements Bellow)

-All textbook fines, unreturned, or unpaid library fines that remain unresolved can and will prohibit your participation in any/all senior events and Commencement.

Graduation Project Requirements

Available by appointment only

Purpose: A Graduation Project is a formal project of personal interest chosen by a student or small group of students that requires out-of-class enrichment, research and development. It’s purpose is to offer students a unique experience that will prepare them for life after graduation.

Tentative Exhibition Dates:

Wednesday, November 3, 2022 and Wednesday, May 3, 2023

*Under special circumstances, you can present in front of a class, to a pathway,

or to another group. Prior permission is needed.

Process:

1. Develop an idea that you are passionate about (Community/School Service, Entrepreneurship, and Job/Career Exploration/Shadow)

2. Be familiar with the requirements on Classroom.

3. Find an adult who will mentor or work with you

4. Meet with one of the teacher sponsors to get pre-approval

5. Develop an essential question on your own, with a sponsor, or with your mentor.

6. Fill out the proposal on classroom

7. Begin project and document everything: photos, timeline, materials, etc.

8. Check in with sponsors to get feedback/help as needed.

9. Prepare a 5-7 minute presentation that closely adheres to the suggested framework on classroom.

10. Submit presentation for feedback, If needed.

11. Review the presentation rubric on Classroom.

12. Choose a date to present.
