Please remember that reading and ELA skills are taught as part of a process. There is a lot of guidance, modeling, and practicing that go into learning and mastering a skill. At the beginning of the year, there are not many grades in PowerSchool because it takes time to assess and determine what path will be best for your child!
READING STRATEGIES
READING STRATEGIES
1. Reach ALL the questions and underline ALL key words in the questions.
2. Read the passage COMPLETELY---ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
3. Cross off answers that you know do NOT answer the question. Do this by placing an X next to the answer choice.
4. Answer the questions.
5. Highlight in the passage WHERE you found your answer (or what helped you answer the question).
6. Place a number by the highlight to show what question it helped you answer (Proving your answer).
7. Make sure you answered ALL the questions.
