SCIENCE - Mrs. Childers

Week of 5/13 - 5/17

This week we started looking at different types of cells.  We will continue with cells next week, the students are trying to learn how the virus is affecting cells.  We will look at healthy cells then at diseased cells for comparison.  Please have your students schedule a time with me at lunch or after school if they would like to make correction on their quiz.  Most of what we do is done during class time, very little homework is sent home.  Please remind your students how important it is to be present during class and to be participating in the lessons.  Please check parent portal to check on missing work.

WORLD GEOGRAPHY - Mrs. Nofs

Week of 5/13 - 5/17

For our lessons in class this week, we will continue taking a closer look at the different types of governments in the world including dictatorships, monarchies, theocracies and democracies.  We will also begin discussing how governments interact with each other, especially through the use of treaties.

Students’ only homework this week will be to bring in a news article that headlines the interaction between two or more governments.  This will be due on Wednesday.  They will also need to be preparing for their Europe map test which is scheduled for Thursday.

Please continue to check Parent Portal for updates on your student's grade and missing work in World Geography, and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns - mary.nofs@avondaleschools.org

Have a stupendous weekend!

LRC Math - Ms. McGee

Week of 5/13 - 5/18

Hello Families!

Students will continue learning about Chapter 9: Statistical Measures and Chapter 10: Data Displays which are being combined.  The students learned what mean, median and mode are and how to find them.  We will next be working on a Mystery packet on these topics and begin learning Interquartile ranges.  The student are enjoying this topic!!  Ask them what they learned.

If your child needs additional math practice, and finds themselves with extra time, encourage them to log into IXL and focus on their personalized NWEA skill plan. This Is a great tool to improve their math skills.  Remember to look at Google Classroom if a student will be absent as the missing assignments and/or notes will be posted there.  Google classroom can also be accessed for more detailed information, and important deadlines/dates! There are also a lot of resources in Google Classroom that your child can access at home to help them.  Ask your student to show you their information.

Should you like more information, please refer to my google site McGee site - This is the Google site which contains information about chapters, upcoming deadlines, important test date information and more!  Also, if you have questions, please email me at yvette.mcgee@avondaleschools.org

Thank you families!
