Welcome to the Avon Central School District's National Honor Society (NHS) website. The website is used to communicate with parents, students, staff, and the Avon community regarding NHS information. National Honor Society is comprised of students who exemplify, through good character, what it means to be leaders, scholars, and servants within our school and community.
The Avon NHS elected it's officers for the 2021-2022 school year. Congratulations to: President, Gabrielle Koehler, Vice-President, Josephine VanRy, Secretary, Mikaela Engstrom, and Treasurers, Logan Dale and Rose Khoobyar. The members hosted their annual winter candygram fundraiser. The NHS induction for the new candidates is March 18, 2022 at 9:30 AM in the MS Auditorium. A reception for the inductees and their family members/guardians present will be hosted immediately following the induction ceremony in the HS Library.
The Avon NHS elected its officers for the 2020-2021 school year. Congratulations to: President, Bridget Hayes, Vice-President, Madeline Murray, Secretary, Colin Farmer, and Treasurers, Andrew Herberger and Samantha Phillips. The winter school fundraiser of selling candy cane grams was hosted in December and raised $156.00 for donation to a local charity. The students also created holiday cards for the Avon Nursing Home residents and delivered the cards on December 19th.
The NHS seniors are identifying community service projects for the remainder of the year and planning for induction. NHS induction is being planned for March 17, 2021. We are working on providing a live stream and recording of the induction.
National Honor Society chapters are built on four core pillars: #everdayleadership #everydaycharacter #everydayservice #everydayscholarship
School is well underway. NHS is organizing to elect the 2020 - 2021 officers, invite potential new members, and plan our annual Avon NHS induction! Stay tuned for further details!
Given the present circumstances with COVID-19, our annual blood drives are on hold. Blood donations are needed; please consider giving at a local drive. If you need help finding a drive, please visit: www.americanredcross.org
Stay well! #wearyourmask #physicaldistancing #AvonPround #GoBraves

Welcome back to school! NHS information will be forthcoming.
In order to be inducted and remain in the Avon chapter of the NHS, students must maintain at least a 90% average throughout their high school years. NHS members are selected by a committee based on each applicant's leadership, scholarship, character and service.
Throughout the school year, National Honor Society members participate in a variety of service activities and charity fundraisers. NHS students volunteer to help out with a variety of school events at the elementary, middle and high school. NHS members also help to organize and run the school Blood Drive. NHS members may also serve as Salvation Army bell ringers during the holidays (among many other activities).
Juniors who have a 90% or higher cumulative average are invited to apply to be a member of the Avon NHS chapter. Once the applications close in early fall, the applications are reviewed by a committee. Students are then either invited to join NHS or they are notified that they are not accepted.
The Avon NHS chapter is looking to build a strong chapter whose collective membership exemplifies the traits of service, leadership, character and scholarship.
