Dear AHS Community,
I hope that everyone’s new year is off to a great start! As we step into 2025 with fresh energy and new goals, I want to celebrate (as usual) the many accomplishments of our students and staff. First, a huge congratulations to our winter sports teams for their dedication and success so far this season! From the courts to the ice, our Falcons continue to impress with their teamwork and perseverance. A special shoutout to our musicians and artists, whose recent performances and exhibits have showcased the incredible talent within our school community. On Saturday, January 4th, the Avon High School Robotics team, the Falconbots, competed in a qualification event in Weston. All four teams demonstrated massive improvement over their first event in December, and two of our teams made it into the finals—an incredible achievement!
As we welcome the Lunar New Year, we celebrate the Year of the Snake, a symbol of wisdom, resilience, and transformation. This year encourages us to embrace change, trust our instincts, and strive for success with confidence. It’s a time for growth, strategic thinking, and pursuing our ambitions—qualities that align perfectly with the determination and excellence we see every day at AHS.
While February and March can be some of the coldest and longest months of the school year, there are always exciting things to look forward to such as Super Bowl Sunday, whether you're watching for the game, the halftime show, or just the commercials, enjoy the big day ; Valentine’s Day, a great time to spread kindness and appreciation for those around us; and of course President’s Day Break (Feb. 17-18): A chance to reflect on our nation’s history and leadership—and enjoy a well-earned day of rest. Finally, Happy Black History Month! This is a time to honor the incredible contributions, achievements, and history of Black Americans. Throughout February, we encourage students to engage in meaningful discussions, activities, and learning opportunities that celebrate Black excellence.
Let’s continue to support one another, set bold goals, and make this month one of growth and success.
Wishing you all a fantastic month ahead!
Dr. Lockhart
