Dear AHS Families,
As we bid farewell to February, I am delighted to reflect on the myriad of celebrations and achievements that have enriched our school community throughout the month. From academic accomplishments to cultural festivities, February has been a time of joy, growth, and unity for all of us.
Throughout February, our Black Student Union honored the legacy and contributions of African Americans to our nation's history and culture through their curated morning announcements. It was a time of learning, reflection, and celebration of diversity within our school community.
Love was in the air as we celebrated Valentine's Day with warmth and affection. Our hallways were adorned with expressions of love and appreciation. Students and staff alike embraced the spirit of kindness and friendship, spreading joy and positivity throughout the school. The musical group Rhapsody, performed their singing telegrams and brought smiles everywhere they went. It was a beautiful reminder of the power of love to unite and uplift us all.
The East Asian club joyously welcomed the Lunar New Year with a beautiful cultural celebration. Students participated in dances, enjoyed traditional foods, and learned about the significance of the Lunar New Year in various Asian cultures. It was a wonderful opportunity to embrace diversity and foster cross-cultural understanding within the school community.
As we reflect on the rich tapestry of celebrations and observances that have filled the month of February, may we continue to embrace diversity, foster understanding, and uplift one another in the months ahead.
In Community,
Dr. Lockhart
