Teaming at Avon Middle School
At AMS, students are placed on interdisciplinary teams creating smaller communities of learners. This structure allows us to:
Build Stronger Connections: We create a sense of belonging by ensuring students feel connected to their peers and teachers.
Personalize Learning: By working as a team, we can quickly identify students’ strengths, learning styles, and areas where they might need extra support.
Foster Collaboration: Teachers meet regularly to plan curriculum, share strategies, and discuss student progress, ensuring a consistent and high-quality educational experience.
Building a strong home-school partnership is invaluable during the middle school years. We view the student’s success as a joint effort between the student, family, and teachers. You can support this transition by:
Staying Connected: Review grades and progress together, and maintain regular contact with teachers and school counselors.
Maintaining Involvement: Ask open-ended questions about their day, read school communications, and attend school events.
Encouraging Growth: Help your child develop their self-advocacy skills, encourage positive risk-taking (like trying a new club or activity), and reinforce the importance of kindness in words and actions.
