About us

To uplift and empower women, especially those belonging to the deprived sections of the society, and to prepare them for meaningful service to their homes, community and the nation in August 2005, the Department of Adult, Continuing Education, Extension and Field Outreach of Avinashilingam University for Women was established and has been undertaking a notable programmes under its five dimensions:

        • Teaching

        • Training

        • Extension and Field Outreach

        • Entrepreneurship Development

        • Networking

The main aim of the department is to promote meaningful and sustainable rapport between the universities and the community through non-formal education. It extends the knowledge and other institutional resources to educationally backward women. It extends the knowledge and other institutional resources to educationally un-reached person through the university system.

It is well known that the impact of globalization has placed new demands on the education system. Transformation with rapid change is taking place everywhere. The student and youth have to be prepared by the university to adopt change and learn new skills in accordance with the new demands of the work force. The universities also have to open door to adult learners for life long learning programmes.

The Lifelong Training Centre of the Department of Home Science Extension Education and the Career Guidance and Placement Cell is jointly conducting Bosch/Bridge employability training program. This full time training program is for 3 months and is meant for under-privileged unemployed school / college dropout girls in the age group of 18 to 25 years. The students will be produced a course completion certificate and job placement assistance to the students who successfully complete the program.

Highlights

  1. First one in offering courses to Transgenders.

  2. From 2005 - 2018 above 80,975 were benefited from various lifelong training programmes.

  3. From 2013 - 2018, 8,641 were benefited from various education programmes.

  4. On the whole 88 percentage trainees established successful business ventures at their economic level and beneficiaries are employed/ self employed in Australia, Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia.

  5. The Revenue generated for the year 2013 - 2018 is Rs. 42,85,000
