STEM Expo Registration

HHS Registration

Click the link to register for the HHS STEM Expo. Only 1 group member should fill out the form per group. Groups can have up to four members. Do you work better alone? No problem at all; you may also participate solo. 

The deadline to register for the STEM Expo is February 20th, 2026, no later than 3:45 p.m. 

All Science Fiction Entries must be submitted by March 20th at 3:45 p.m.

All STEM Projects MUST be completed and submitted by March 30th at 3:45 p.m.

HHS Stem Expo Information Guide

Date of Event: Friday, March 31, 2025 (3:00 pm - 5:00 pm)   Location: Large Gym


I appreciate your interest in our annual STEM Expo! This guide will give you an approximate timeline to help you get off to a great and productive start. 


The AVUHSD 10th Annual STEM Expo will be at Antelope Valley College's Uhazy Hall on Saturday, April 11, 2025. More information to come regarding the details.


The top 3 entries from each category at each school in the District, along with select schools from neighboring districts, will be on display.

The categories include: 

  • Environmental/Agricultural Innovation

  • Invention

  • Reverse Engineering

  • Robotics

  • Computer Science

  • Rube Goldberg

  • Science Fiction

  • Scientific Inquiry

  • Health Communication

Community judges will determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category.

PROCESS & TIMELINE

Project Process

Participants will first identify if they want to do an original project or an extension of a project/lab they’ve already done for a STEM class. Next, students will decide whether to work as a team (maximum of 4 participants per team) or individually. Entries will compete at the site level. The top 3 students in each category will advance to the district-level competition. The winners in each category will be entered into a raffle to win prizes!

To-Do List

  • Look through the categories to understand what each topic entails.

  • Decide on your project and team.

  • Enroll through the Intent to Participate Google Form.

  • Complete the participation permission slip (go to room 408 for the slip).

  • Collect the Tri-Fold and logbook from your teacher or Ms. Khalifa in room 408.

  • Check the rules and regulations for more details on how to be successful.


January 2026

  • Look through the STEM Expo categories and decide on your team and competition category.

  • Complete the Intent to Participate Google Form.

  • Create a plan with your team and teacher. This HHS STEM website has many resources.

February 2026

  • Revisit your STEM project plan and make changes as needed.

  • Final Decision on your project and team.

  • Complete the participation permission slip (go to your teacher or room 408 for the slip).

  • Collect the Tri-fold and logbook from your teacher or room 408.

  • Check the rules and regulations for more details on how to be successful.

  • First project check-in with your teacher during the week of February 9th.

  • Deadline to enter the competition is February 20th at 3:45 pm.

  • Second project check-in with your teacher during the week of February 16th.

  • Third project check-in with your teacher during the week of February 23rd.


March 2026

  • Fourth project check-in with your teacher during the week of March 2nd.

  • Fifth project check-in with your teacher during the week of March 9th

  • Sixth project check-in with your teacher during the week of March 16th.

  • The deadline to submit all Science-Fiction projects is March 20th at 3:45 pm.

  • Finalize your project the week of March 17th.

  • Submit your STEM project on March 30th at 3:45 unless otherwise specified. 

  • Set up for participation in the Highland High School STEM Expo in the Large Gym during the school day and ready to participate by 3:00 pm on March 31, 2026.

  • Highland High School STEM Expo on March 31, 2026, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

 April 2026

  • AVUHSD STEM Expo at Antelope Valley College's Uhazy Hall on Saturday, April 11, 2025. Time is to be determined at a later date.
