Hello Lope Family! I am Ms. Hinton! I graduated from Antelope Valley High School and I have taught here for the past 8 years. I have taught AP English Literature every year, and am currently teaching AP Lit, AVID, and English 9.
Outside of my Lope family, I am a mom with two daughters, ages 8 and 10, three dogs, and a hobby farm with goats, mini pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, etc.
I love to travel, road trips are my favorite! I love music and make a point to attend shows/concerts/festivals as much as possible. I am a big collector of band T-shirts.
Of all of my favorites things: I love being a teacher. However, I wouldn’t be able to do my job without two things: Coffee...lots of coffee and books… lots and lots of books. I am a book nerd!!! I read constantly, learning about myself and the world through every book. It is my goal to show my students that books are more than literary devices and vocabulary, they are life-lessons. My favorite part of teaching is having the opportunity to talk about books, themes and authors with all of my students...while drinking coffee! My ultimate goal as your teacher is to show you how powerful your mind and voice are and inspire you to share all of your unique gifts with the world.

Teaching is my second career. I worked as an Aerospace Engineer for almost 20 years.
I had to give up my career to raise my three sons and work on the family business. Education is very important to my family and me. My sons are now all grown up and are pursuing their respective doctorate program or had already successfully completed their board exams.
I believe that every student has the potential of success if given the proper motivation and discipline. As a CTE Engineering teacher, I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to impart the knowledge that I learned in the Engineering industry, not only academically but also professionally, to the new generation of students.

I am from San Bernardino, California––born and raised. I moved to Lancaster after graduating from CSUSB with my bachelors in English. I have wanted to be a teacher since 2nd grade, and it is finally a reality! This is my 3rd year teaching English, but it is my 5th year in the field of education (I was a substitute teacher for 2 years). I have taught English 10, 10 Honors, AP 11, and ERWC for seniors. I enjoy teaching English because I love language and writing. Our access to the language is infinite but obtainable, and we must explore that. Through English, we learn to communicate effectively and are able to discover what makes us tick individually through inquiry and literature. I like being part of the GE Academy because it allows me to teach a curriculum that has a traditional yet kinesthetic aspect. As an English teacher in GE, I am able to intertwine language with hands-on learning. A fun fact about me is that I like all types of music; I have what you would call "eclectic" taste. My hobbies include: drawing, tennis, dancing, and travelling. Also, my only favorite part of flying is landing in my destination.

I am Ms. Meister and I am in my 5th year of teaching at Antelope Valley High School. This will be my 2nd year in the GE Program and I am so excited to join another year. I wanted to be a teacher since 6th grade because I had an amazing fun teacher who inspired me. Before her, I was not good at math, but she made it seem so simple and easy. Since then I decided that I wanted to be a teacher like her that makes learning easy and fun. I believe that anyone can learn and be good at Math and it is my goal to help students get there. Here I am, teaching math at Antelope Valley High School and I love it. I also love tutoring and I will be in the tutoring program after school almost every day. I love summer because I love to be around water and in the sun. I love most sports but my favorite is soccer. I love campfires, singing, the outdoors, Jesus, coffee, and TRAVELING.

Hello! I’m Mrs. Rasch-Herrera, and I’m super excited to be part of the Green Enterprise Academy here at Antelope Valley High School. My teaching experience includes middle and high school grades, and I honestly wouldn’t want to do anything else. I absolutely love my career. In addition to my professional background listed above, I’ve also taken education courses in USC, UC San Diego and UC Riverside. The only thing I love more than teaching is learning! My goal and purpose as an English teacher is to deliver effective, innovative instruction, so students can see their own potential and skills.
When I’m not teaching, I’m at home with my loving family. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two awesome children. My mom is my best friend, and it is her resilience that I love the most about her. I unfortunately lost my dad to cancer when I was 19, but he is the reason I am an English teacher today. He was an English teacher in his home country of Guatemala, and I became fascinated with the idea of teaching. One more family member who has inspired me is my niece. She has had to use a wheelchair since a car accident left her paraplegic. She is truly my “roll” model.
I cannot wait to continue growing as an educator here at Antelope Valley High School. I hope my students know how important they are to me and this program overall. Let’s go, Lopes!
