What you should know
Vaping is not harmless. Most vapes contain nicotine, which can lead to dependence and affect the developing brain, including attention, learning, mood, and self-control. Vape aerosol can also expose your lungs to harmful chemicals. If you already vape, cravings or difficulty stopping may be signs that nicotine is starting to take control.
What you should do
If you don’t vape, protect your health by choosing not to start. If you do vape and want to stop, identify your triggers, make a quit plan, and reach out for support. A counselor, parent, guardian, health professional, or trusted adult can help you stay in control and take the next step.

Vaping can be influenced by more than one thing, including advertising, flavors, social influences, and nicotine itself. Understanding what can pull people toward vaping is one way to make more informed choices and stay in control.
