At Virtual Academy, BSU is more than an extracurricular activity. We are a community that encourages students to grow academically, develop leadership skills, celebrate Black history and culture, and advocate for positive change throughout our school and community.

Our Mission: We serve as the primary advocacy organization for Black students. We represent the needs and celebrate the successes of Black history and culture. We promote academic excellence as well as political and social awareness. We uplift and encourage Black students, which promotes diversity awareness for all.

The Data Tell the Story: Districtwide data show that students participating in BSU demonstrate stronger academic trends than district averages, including higher GPAs, stronger graduation readiness, fewer D/F grades, more consistent attendance, and meaningful leadership involvement.
