ACIS Program
Personalized Mastery Learning at Aveson
Across all of our school programs, Aveson is committed to personalizing learning for students. Find out what PML means to us in this short video clip. ACIS is proud to take PML to the highest level through quality, supported independent study coupled with engagement in our dynamic school family.
ACIS Program Overview
Aveson's promise of Personalized Mastery Learning is uniquely represented in ACIS. Collaborating with an ACIS Advisor, Home Educators are able to take an active role in the organization and operation of their homeschools, including choice of curriculum materials and educational experiences. Upon enrollment each family is assigned an ACIS Advisor, who will meet with you and your student every 5 weeks (or more often depending on your needs) for a Progress Meeting.
Enrollment in ACIS offers a number of additional benefits, including:
Personal choice of curriculum
State compliance for your homeschool
Instructional funds for curriculum materials and additional vendor classes
Freedom to capitalize on strengths or scaffold weaknesses
Time to pursue subject-matter passions and an audience for your Passion Projects
A flexible schedule
All ACIS Families are also able to participate in school wide programs offered by Aveson including:
Celebrations of Learning
Aveson After School Programs
Science fairs
Talent shows
“Rite of Passage” trips
Community and fundraising events
School photos/yearbook
5th/8th Grade Graduation
Middle School Sports
Parent Education and Action Teams
Instructional Funds
Instructional funds can be used toward the secular curriculum and materials of your choice, which we will order for you based on your request. Funds can also be used toward educational classes provided by outside vendors who appear on our approved list.
For the 2022-23 school year, instructional funds will be allotted as follows:
TK: $900/year ($450/semester)
K-8: $1700/year ($850/semester)
Please note! Instructional funds are offered in addition to our universal curriculum package, Campus Days and Zoom classes. Your scholars will become part of a thriving school family which boasts a consistent peer group, a deep relationship with the advisor and a true community of homeschooling families.
Work Records
Home Educators will complete documentation of their scholar's independent study progress on an individualized timeline not to exceed 25 days. The Assignment and Work Record (AWR) will be due at each progress meeting. All AWRs are collected electronically using Google Classroom. The AWR is a list of all assignments completed during the learning period. In general, we collect two samples for each subject (ELA, math, science/history combined) each month.
Curriculum
Families enrolled in ACIS have the ability to choose the curriculum that best fits their needs. Each family will receive a universal curriculum upon enrollment. You may also request any curriculum materials that meet basic ACIS guidelines using your instructional funds.
During the time spent at Aveson,
I have become a better person than when I first came.
Aveson is a School
Where people are treated with respect and equality.
Aveson is a School
Where friends and memories can be made.
Aveson is a school that feels like home.
Aveson is a school of leaders.
I love Aveson and it makes me sad to leave.
Every minute at aveson is a joy.
My one piece of advice to younger students is to
Enjoy this wonderful school.
