Field Trip Tuesday January 24th

Third Grade is excited to announce that we have a skiing field trip to Beech Mountain on Tuesday January 24th with a back up date of the 26th. This trip is completely free to the students and includes a ticket, equipment rentals (skis or snowboard), small group lesson, and cafeteria lunch. The expectation is that all students will attend. An electronic rental link with a waiver will be sent to you. Please fill it out and check the waiver to give your permission. Any student who does not have a rental form filled out in advance will not be able to participate and will remain at school on that day.

I have done this trip many times with students prior to COVID. I can’t brag enough about how professional and caring all staff and departments at Beech have been. The “Bunny” slope with a magic carpet is right outside the rental department. Teachers will have a visual on your child the entire time. The main intention of this trip is to introduce students who have never been to the life-long physical activity of skiing and snowboarding that is right in our backyard.

Unlike other similar field trips, some special clothing is required. Each student should wear some kind of ski bibs or waterproof pants, warm coat, warm socks, and snow gloves. Helmets are part of the rental package. Anything your child wears to play in the snow or go sledding will probably work out just fine. It may be possible that some students could borrow certain items for this one day. Please don’t feel pressured to go out and purchase anything that could not be used again to play on snow days. Wal-Mart in Boone has bibs, gloves, and coats.

3rd Grade Ski Trip Itinerary

*Tuesday January 24th with a make-up date of January 26th*

8:00-8:15- Check students clothing/gear

8:15- Leave CES on bus for Beech Mountain Resort

9:00- Arrive at slopes and get rental equipment

10:00-11:30- Receive group lessons form Beech Staff and practice

11:30-12:15- Break for lunch

12:15-1:30- Students free ski on magic carpet area

1:45- Turn in rentals

2:00- On bus returning to CES

2:40- Back at school for buses and car line
