INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the 2022–23 Course Handbook. This Handbook is designed to provide a detailed outline of the upper grades academic program at Avenues New York. Additionally, it should help you understand your core requirements, decision points, and different program modalities in grades 9–12. All of what follows will enable you to select a challenging and engaging course of study for the upcoming school year, in the context of the full four-year experience in the upper grades.

This Handbook is organized into different sections, as follows:

• An academic program overview, which describes the core academic program as well as additional modes of study and key Avenues programs available to upper grades students

• Requirements for graduation and specific grade-level course requirements and program options

• A catalog of all upper grades course offerings for 2022–23, organized by discipline and grade level(s) available
