Activity Overview
Children engage and stimulate many of their senses while baking bread. They take in savory smells, manipulate satisfying textures, and end with the reward of a delicious taste. Mixing, measuring, and kneading also help to strengthen fine motor and numeracy skills, as well as hone the proprioceptive sense. In this activity, students embrace their inner chef by baking their own bread for a loved one or friend. But there’s a twist! Whereas most bread recipes – including our own – start out in bowls, this recipe starts in a bag, and hence gives the students’ proprioception a fun little boost.
