Guided Pathways is a faculty-led initiative across the state to streamline our students' educational experiences. The purpose of Guided Pathways is to smooth the way for our students as they navigate the sometimes bewildering institutional processes to meet their educational goals.
Two cross-functional leaders from Antelope Valley College have applied to participate in a year-long professional development academy through the RP Group, called "Leading From the Middle." If selected, the groups made up of faculty, staff, and managers, will study our college's process to implement Guided Pathways across the district. The LFM Academy is put on by the Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges (RP Group), a nonpartisan organization that provides research on behalf of the California Community Colleges system.
RPG describes Leading from the Middle (LFM) as an initiative to "[develop and equip] middle leaders with skills and strategies to advance lasting reform efforts at their respective colleges through a project and problem-based learning model. LFM's pedagogical approach provides a space for campus teams to engage with and learn from one another in addition to taking into account that middle leaders are critical agents who can influence change through their positions on campus and their connections with students."
