ACC P-TECH Construction Academy

Are you interested in a career in one of the nation’s fastest-growing industries of architecture and construction and being a part of Austin’s future?


The state-of-the-art Construction Technology Building enables students to use professional equipment and take AISD and Austin Community College (ACC) construction courses providing learning opportunities in the following areas: carpentry; construction methods; mechanical, plumbing and electrical fields; woodworking; blueprint reading; cost estimating; material management; and project management. Students will be ready to enter the competitive construction job market and will be capable of building structures and managing construction processes.

Students will complete the required courses to graduate from high school, in addition to up to 60 credits (or an associate degree) completely free. There is no cost for tuition, transportation or textbooks for ACC classes, saving students and their families thousands of dollars. Upon graduation students may continue towards and associate degree at in construction management at Austin Community College with tuition paid by AISD. The student would only be responsible for books and fees.

Certifications


Academy graduates have the opportunity to earn, alongside their high school diploma, each of the following:

● OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 (Occupational Safety and Health) certificates;

● ACC Carpentry Specialization Level 1 Certificate;

● Associate of Applied Science degree in Construction Management

Eligibility


Rising 8th graders and current freshmen and sophomores at the start of the program. Students apply to be in the academy during the spring semester. Students must maintain an ACC GPA of 2.00 or higher, and earn a C or higher in all ACC classes.
