Level 1 / No Audition or Prerequisites Required / 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade
Beginning Theatre is our foundational course where students explore all areas of theatre —from costumes, set design, makeup, hair, lights and sound, to playwriting, performance, and careers in theatre. Students learn skills that support success both in theatre and in everyday life. By the end of this class, students leave feeling more confident in themselves, stronger in their presentation skills, and surrounded by new friends who help them feel safe, supported, and welcomed at Lively.
Level 2 & 3 / No Audition Required / Prerequisite: Beginning Theatre or Equivalent Experience / 7th & 8th Grade
Advanced Theatre is for students who choose to continue their journey after Beginning Theatre. In this class, students apply all the skills they learned in Level 1 by producing a fully student-run show while also preparing performance and technical pieces for the Junior Thespians competition. This class builds leadership, collaboration, and deeper artistry.
Level 2 & 3 / Audition Required / Prerequisite: Beginning Theatre or Equivalent Experience / 7th & 8th Grade
Students must audition for Competitive & Musical Theatre and may only do so after completing Beginning Theatre. This class requires after-school commitments and significant work outside of regular class time. Students participate in the UIL One Act Play competition, Junior Thespians, and our school musical each year. We focus on competition work during the first semester and shift to musical preparation during the second.
