Welcome, Musicians!

There are so many creative avenues to explore! Don't worry if something doesn't make perfect sense-you can play around with the technology and/or ask a friend for now.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your music teacher.

With guardian permission, consider posting your creations to our MUSIC PADLET

The code was released in a school-wide smore and also on a Living Tree announcement (it's the same as art's).

You may have something else to feature: share those music lessons, perform something you made up, show your music from one of the sites, perform a karaoke track from youtube, re-live a past school performance piece, collaborate with someone at home/online, or surprise us!

The Boogie Man

Many of you have played this game with me in class. Below, you will see the underlined link "Boogie Man Copy" which will automatically save the slides document to your Google Drive. You can do any of the following with it:

1) Scroll through and copy the movements, by yourself or with someone in your home

2) Try step one with music of your choosing (Hamster Dance and Axle F have been school favorites)

3) Since this is your very own copy, you can edit it without worry! Take off arms, add a new slide, create a shape of your own. Later this week I will post a video on how to do that.

Fun Fact about the Boogie Man: many of the shapes were drawn by our own Roadrunners!

April is Poetry Month

Greetings! I am using SoundTrap to make a podcast with music and sound effects for a poem. The first time you open SoundTrap and create a podcast, make it your goal simply to play with the buttons and see what you figure out. There are tutorial videos linked in the purple lesson plan below. I included a mini "how-to" videos of my own if you scroll down the site.

Google Sites does not support Mp3's, but they are easy to play on iTunes, Windows Media Player and most phones. Since it's short, you may be able to email it, too! I will put my final product on the Music Padlet. Enjoy!

For those of you who feel this project is too much, check out these podcasts (some of which are hosted by kids). I'm listening to NoodleLoaf and Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child

April is Poetry Month Steps

Each step might take a session of it's own. :)

1) Get guardian permission, login and open SoundTrap, using this link.

2) Open SoundTrap (see tutorial below) and play with the Loop Library.

3) Do the sounds remind you of a poem you already know? Does it make you think of a new one? I'm going to write a Haiku, which will have a line of 5 syllables, a line of 7 syllables and then another line of 5.

All the world has stopped

Rest in this pause if you can

Our truth will soon change

4) If you want additional help or ideas, look at the purple lesson plan "Poetic Voice" below. Place your poem to the left of the SoundTrap window so you can read it as you record. You could also print your script.

5) When you like your product, "Save As" and give it a title.

6) Export as an Mp3

7) With guardian permission, send to family/friends or share above on the school music padlet. I will!

Me In a Minute(ish)

Hello! This week, I experimented with SoundTrap to create a podcast. It was not as simple as I expected, and the whole process took me a few sittings to complete. The first time you open SoundTrap and create a podcast, make it your goal just to play with the buttons and see what you figure out. There are tutorial videos linked in the purple lesson plan below. I included a mini "how-to" video of my own.

Google Sites does not support Mp3's, but they are easy to play on iTunes, Windows Media Player and most phones. Since it's short, you may be able to email it, too! I put my final product on the Music Padlet. Enjoy!

For those of you who feel this project is too much, check out the links on the purple lesson plan which features cool podcasts (some of which are hosted by kids). I'm listening to NoodleLoaf and Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child

Me in a Minute(ish) Steps

Each step might take a session of it's own. :)

1) Think of questions you want to answer or ask someone in your home. Write them down and practice reading your script. I've included my script below.

Examples: What's your first memory? Do you have a favorite subject in school? Who has inspired you and have you met them? Describe a perfect day.

2) Get guardian permission, login and open SoundTrap, using this link.

3) Explore SoundTrap

4) Watch the tutorial video from Ms. Stephens. If you want more help, look on the purple lesson plan below. When I recorded the podcast, I put my story to the left of my SoundTrap window so I could read it as I recorded. You could also print your script.

5) When you like your product, "Save As" and give it a title.

6) Export as an Mp3

7) With guardian permission, send to family/friends or share above on the school music padlet. I did!

LISTENING WALK

OPTIONAL LISTENING WALK-The checklists below are there if you'd like guidance on your adventure. Make sure you have permission and/or supervision if you leave your home-this activity can also be accomplished inside.
