What is a storyboard?
A storyboard is a grid of drawings or pictures that show the order of events in a story. People who create movies and TV use storyboards to plan out what will happen in each part of a story. Each drawing represents a different scene and usually includes notes about what the characters are saying and doing.
Directions: Create a storyboard including 4 important moments/events that take place in the book you read. You can print out the template provided or you can design your own storyboard! Draw your 6 illustrations by hand, and summarize each moment in your own words.
Requirements:
4 illustrations/drawings of important moments/events from the story.
Drawings should include color.
Drawings show effort and atention to detail!
Drawings show events from throughout the story (beginning, middle, end)
A brief summary of the moment/event (written under each box). A summary is a short explanation of what happens during a story or a particular event/part of a story.
Each summary should be a minimum of 2 sentences.
Pay attention to capitalization rules: the first letter of sentences, names, places, novel titles, etc.
Make sure to use punctuation at the end of each sentence!
Each summary is specific--mentions character names, places, important details
What is a book review? A 7th grade book review is a short piece of writing that gives your opinion about a book and explains why you did or did not enjoy it. It usually includes a brief summary of the story without giving away too many spoilers, descriptions of the main characters, and your thoughts about the plot, theme, or writing style. A good book review also includes specific examples from the book to support your opinion.
Requirements:
Students can fill in a printed copy of the template linked below OR design a homemade version of the template below. Regardless of the format, all reviews should include the following:
List the title and author of the book
Briefly summarize the book's plot (mentions the setting, important characters, major conflicts, etc.)
Explain what you personally liked or disliked about the book. Provide at least 2 components/aspects of the books you liked OR disliked. Give examples from the book to explain your stance.
Rate the book out of 5 stars, and explain your rating.
Identify 3 words that describe the book (think of adjectives that would help showcase the vibe of the story! Examples: mysterious, funny, dramatic, romantic, relatable, etc.)
Make an effort to use grammatical rules on your final work. Use complete sentences with proper punctuation, capitalize appropriate words (the title of the book, author's name & character names, other proper nouns, first word in a sentence, the word I, etc.), and check your spelling!
Be neat with your final project. Use color for your illustration! Use your best handwriting.
Idea: Make a draft of your book review, and once you feel confident about it, transfer it onto your official template!
