We are excited to bring you a wide variety of professional learning opportunities. This will be a multi-day, in-person conference for all instructional staff in all contents. These sessions will offer you opportunities to learn more about supporting students participating in Multilingual Education programs (i.e., ESL, Dual Language & World Languages ) through curriculum, instructional strategies, resources and more. Multilingual Education Institute Aims To:
Provide comprehensive overviews of AISD’s Dual Language and English as a Second Language programs, focusing on curriculum, instruction and resources available;
Reflect on instructional practices that build biliteracy and are culturally and linguistically sustaining;
Reflect upon topics connected to cross-cultural competence, equity and social and emotional learning;
Share new program guidelines for scheduling dual language and ESL instruction, as well as special programs for refugees and newcomers;
Provide an opportunity to listen to the voices of our students as they share their languages and cultures, their educational experiences, and how teachers can help them become better learners.

Q: Will this be in-person or virtual?
A: The Multilingual Education Institute will be an in-person conference at Northeast Early College High School , 7104 Berkman Dr, Austin, TX 78752. There will be two sessions offered via Zoom.
Q: Is this only for teachers of an English as a Second Language (ESL) class or Dual Language class?
A: No. The Multilingual Education Institute is appropriate for any teacher of any content that supports a student participating in Multilingual Education programs (e.g., Dual Language, English as a SecondL & World Languages).
Q: Is there a Detailed Schedule with session descriptions?

Q: Will I earn CPE credits for attending and participating in a learning session?
A: Yes. Participants must register in HCP, participate in the learning session, sign the attendance form given at the end of each session to receive CPE credits. CPE credits can then be used for PLED credits upon principal approval.
Q: Do I need to register in HCP for each session?
A: Yes. Attendees will need to register in HCP for each session they want to attend.
