Ready Set Teach is a field-based internship (double-blocked, weighted elective class) that provides students background knowledge of child development principles as well as principles of effective teaching and training practices. Students work under the joint direction and supervision of both their high school teacher and a mentor teacher at the elementary school level. Students learn to plan and direct individualized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional materials, assist with record keeping, and complete other responsibilities of classroom teachers, teacher assistants, or other educational personnel.Â
The program consists of two levels: Ready Set Teach 1 (first year students in the program) and Ready Set Teach 2 (second year students in the program).
The Elementary Schools that we currently work with are: Baranoff, Baldwin, Bear Creek, Clayton, Kiker, and Mills.
Any Sophomore or Junior who has taken Human Growth & Development and passed with a 70. Teacher approval is needed to be admitted into the program for the 2026-2027 school year.
