Mrs. Pruet

Martha Comfort Dog was born in 2016. She is a golden retriever and was a great pal to beloved Abner Comfort Dog. Martha is owned by Bethany Lutheran Church, in Southwest Austin. They are a part of the Lutheran Church Charities Comfort Dog Ministry which has approximately 130 dogs placed nationwide, all golden retrievers.

Martha is considered a working dog. She began training for this role at the age of eight weeks. She has received over two thousand hours of training.

Martha only visits where she is invited and there is never a charge for this service. In addition to schools, she visits nursing homes, hospitals, and anyplace else she may be needed. In response to a tragedy, and when invited, Martha will join other Comfort Dogs to serve those who may be impacted by these events. 

Abner Comfort Dog was born May 2, 2015. Abner visited Baldwin Elementary for almost 7 years until his unexpected passing in October 2023. Abner touched hundreds of lives during his time of service. Abner is survived by three of his littermates who are also Comfort Dogs, Tobias, Mahlah, and Eunice. All of those who met him will never forget his gentle and loving kindness.
