Meet the Counselors

Mrs. Pruet

Hello! This is my first year at Baldwin Elementary as a School Counselor and I am so excited to be a part of the Bobcat family! I will be serving Kindergarten, 4th, and 5th grade students this school year.  I have worked in education for the past 7 years as an elementary teacher. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and, most recently, 5th grade. I graduated in May with my Masters in School Counseling from Texas A&M University. Gig 'em! I am married and welcomed my first baby in November! Her name is Ivy. In my free time, I like to hang out with my family and my dog, Waylon, spend time outside, and watch movies.

I look forward to getting to know all of you and getting to be a support for you in any way possible! Feel free to stop by and say hi anytime.

Mrs. Chapman

Hello! I am thrilled to be returning to Baldwin Elementary as a school counselor serving Bobcats. I will be serving grades PreK, 1, 2, 3 this school year. I am passionate about empowering students to become independent in self-regulation and positive self-talk building on their strengths. I value partnering with parents/guardians to help students succeed.

A little about me...I was an elementary teacher for past 21 years in Austin, Eanes, and most recently Hays CISD. I am married and have two sons who are 9  and 13 years old. We also have a sweet goldendoodle named Millie who has stolen our hearts. In my free time I like to cheer for the Texas Longhorns, work in my garden outside, spend time with my family, and I am also working towards my full licensure as a professional counselor. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your social emotional growth this year. PS I love giving hugs!

Martha Comfort Dog

Martha Comfort Dog was born in 2016. She is a golden retriever and was a great pal to beloved Abner Comfort Dog. Martha is owned by Bethany Lutheran Church, in Southwest Austin. They are a part of the Lutheran Church Charities Comfort Dog Ministry which has approximately 130 dogs placed nationwide, all golden retrievers.

Martha is considered a working dog. She began training for this role at the age of eight weeks. She has received over two thousand hours of training.

Martha only visits where she is invited and there is never a charge for this service. In addition to schools, she visits nursing homes, hospitals, and anyplace else she may be needed. In response to a tragedy, and when invited, Martha will join other Comfort Dogs to serve those who may be impacted by these events.

Millie

Millie is a 4 year old golden doodle and beloved family pet of Mrs. Chapman. Millie is certified through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. She will be coming to school with Mrs. Chapman as a support to students throughout the school day beginning on February 1st. Millie loves providing emotional support and comfort to those in need. Students can benefit from the presence of a therapy dog in times of need by providing unconditional love and acceptance, bring comfort, decrease worry and sadness, and much more.

Millie will always be under the care of Mrs. Chapman and any student interactions with her are optional with student safety and comfort the top priority.

In memoriam - Abner Comfort Dog

Abner Comfort Dog was born May 2, 2015. Abner visited Baldwin Elementary for almost 7 years until his unexpected passing in October 2023. Abner touched hundreds of lives during his time of service. Abner is survived by three of his littermates who are also Comfort Dogs, Tobias, Mahlah, and Eunice. All of those who met him will never forget his gentle and loving kindness. You are always in our hearts, Abner!
