At this CONNECT learning session, Jeff Coe from Lego Education led us through activities that exercised our creativity and allowed us to explore how creativity and play builds confidence in both teachers and students. We also talked about cognitive flexibility, self-efficacy, executive functioning and systems thinking. As a bonus we heard from rock star teachers, Mary Tijerina from Menchaca Elementary and Jena Justice from O'Henry MS. They shared several activities they implement in their classrooms to add creativity, coding practice, and computational thinking into their lessons. The dinner we enjoyed was a fabulous taco bar courtesy of Vista Equity Partners. Thank you Vista and Lego for your support! We love our community partners.
On this Saturday we looked at fundamentals of classroom management and strategies that align to district initiatives. In addition we looked at best practices as found in Harry Wong's book "The First Days of School". Thank you teachers for spending your Saturday morning with us. #AISDGameChangers!
Thanks to everyone that ventured out with us to the University of Texas. You are a #gamechanger!
We had a great time learning from Deb Kelt, Assistant Professor Of Practice, UT and Dr. Christine Krafka, University School Partnerships, UT. As a group we shared wisdom on engaged classrooms and explored four areas: Systemic Focus, Suitable Pedagogy and Expectations, Meaningful Learning with Authentic Choice and Supportive Environments. Thanks UT for being a super host and providing us with yummy pizza and salad, and for leading us in meaningful learning and powerful conversations.
We had so much fun seeing each other at Village of Lights for CONNECT Social. We strolled around the Village and enjoyed the outdoor movie.
Ms. Hollins from Bedichek MS took home the holiday raffle prize.
See you all at the next CONNECT Learning event on January 23rd. Details coming your way!
At this event we had fun getting to hear about each other's winter holiday traditions and reflected on what this winter break will be like for our students. We also enjoyed some yummy sandwich sliders, made plans for January and experienced a Socratic Circle. If you didn't get to make it, we hope to see you at the Dec 14th social event! Be on the look out for a CONNECT email or just go here to learn more about it. RSVP here.
Thank you Library Media Services for hosting us tonight! And, thank you for all of the of the freebies (not shown but there were lots). We all went home very happy, two of us went home with an additional gift bag, woohooo.
See you at the next one everyone!
We had so much fun meeting others, getting prizes, learning together and sharing ideas. Don't forget to connect with your partner to check in on your plan of action and goal setting, and let your principal know about PLED credit eligibility. See you soon friends!
It was soooo good to see over 800 of you walking in through the AISD Performing Arts Center doors back in August. Hope you felt welcomed to AISD and that you enjoyed listening to Dr. Cruz, and our teachers of the year. Many thanks to everyone in the Talent Acquisition Team and the many other great AISD departments and grade level facilitators that provided learning and information sessions during TIP EDU week.
