Class overview
Choral music develops musicianship through study of vocal technique, music/sight-reading skills, and listening experiences in analysis and description. Periods of music history and the music of many cultures are explored. Unison, two- three-, and four-part choral literature is prepared and performed publicly. Attendance at performances and rehearsals outside school hours is required and included in grades. Within one music strand, students are encouraged to follow the sequence of courses to complete a Humanities and Fine Arts endorsement. Choir students participate in Varsity and Non-Varsity UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluations in the Spring semester. Singers are encouraged to perform at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest and audition for TMEA All-State Choir. Please click here to pay the annual Austin High Choir fair share fee.
