Mandatory orientation must be completed by June 1.
Grading is based on the total number of possible points available on the exams and the required MyEconLab Assignments.
MyEconLab.com is the online study guide that accompanies the Miller text. MyEconLab is required, not optional.
I will award up to 20 points for each homework assignment. The 16 Homework assignments are worth a total of 320 points (20*16) or 8% of the 4000 point grading scale.
I will award up to 40 points for each quiz. The 16 Chapter Quizzes are worth a total of 640 points (40*16) or 15% of the 4000 point grading scale.
There are four required Unit exams. Each question on the Unit exams (midterms) is worth 9 points.
The midterm exam will consist of 40 questions. Each question on the midterm exam is worth 9 points.
The required final exam will consist of 50 questions. Each question on the final exam is worth 32 points.
The points you earn on MyEconLab will exactly equal the points I record for students on the "My Grades" page of the course's ACC Blackboard site.
There are three exceptions to the distribution of grades given above:
If a student makes an F on the final, (that is, makes less than 55% or 880 points out of 1600 on the final exam), then the student can make no higher than a C in the course. In other words, a student cannot make an A or a B in the course if he makes an F on the final.
If a student makes a D on the final, (that is, makes at least 55% but less than 65% on the final exam), then the student can make no higher than a B in the course. In other words, a student cannot make an A in the course if he makes a D on the final.
If a student makes 94% (1504 points) or above on the final exam, the student will earn an A in the course regardless of his total points.
The first two exceptions are why a Practice Final is being provided to you in this course. It is hoped that this Practice Final will help you better prepare for the final and take away some of the anxiety students often feel when approaching a final exam.
