Photography

On behalf of the Austin Community College Library Services, and the hard working Creatives that participated in this endeavor we welcome you to our newest Virtual Display for Photography! The following pages are a compilation of resources available at ACC for students, staff, and faculty. We have also put together a list of additional resources to supplement our materials.

We hope the list offers helpful information whether you are a beginner or advanced student of photography. We hope some of these resources capture your imaginations and give light to new ideas with tips and tricks to sharpen your techniques.

Introduction by professional photographer,

 Janice Montalvo:

"Photography has been in existence since 1826; personally, I have been taking photographs since I was a preteen. I have used photography to sharpen my memory and leaned on it for solace and meditation.  Each photo I take, no matter what I am focusing on, helps me to remember everything that was happening the instant that I clicked the shutter.  Photography has humbled me by recognizing  how quickly time passes and how precious it really is. I am but an observer. I am honored and feel tasked to capture as much as I can. I am one of many who  ascribe to the notion what photography is in its purest form, cataloging the essence of what it is to be in our universe and beyond. From the microbes in the ground to the planets in the cosmos, we aspire to get snapshots of the grand & marvelous picture that is us as a whole – warts and all."

Good luck to all of you in your journey!
