Adam Long, PE, PS, RPLS
Adam is a second-generation civil engineer and land surveyor. He has more than 28 years of civil engineering and land surveying technology, knowledge, and experience. His experience includes second and third-order geodetic GPS and vertical control, precise measurement surveys, topographic mapping, terrain modeling, 3-D surface modeling for machine control, construction staking, route, and boundary surveying. Adam is based in Austin, Texas, and implements new field and office technology and solves business problems at SAM.
Michael Ritter, RPLS
As a part-time Adjunct instructor at ACC, Mike has been teaching the Land Surveying lecture and lab classes since the summer of 1985. He has been a Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor for 38 years, and has been professionally registered in two other states.
His full-time professional tenure includes twenty years of surveying management in the private sector, working for major firms in the Houston and Austin areas. He also has twenty five years of professional experience in the public sector, working with the City of Austin and with his current employer, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Mike is also an avid outdoorsman and traveler, and has become familiar with just about every state park and state natural area Texas has to offer. Looking back, he has come to relish the long term relationships he's developed over the years with former students, now professionals and leaders in our communities. Looking forward, he's excited by the prospects of new innovations and technologies which we will come to embrace and master in guiding our students forward.
Gregory Schmidt, RPLS, LSLS
Greg has an AAS in Geospatial Engineering from this program and attended ACC and the University of Texas engineering, architecture, computer science, and business classes. He is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (1986) and a Licensed State Land Surveyor (2010) with almost 40 years of land surveying in Texas. His practical experiences cover a wide variety of projects and diverse clients such as Austin ISD, Austin Community College District, University of Texas, Texas Department of Transportation, Lower Colorado River Authority, USDA Natural Resources and Conservation Service, and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Past work history includes working alongside professional engineers in preparing subdivisions, site development plans, and permitting through the City of Austin and surrounding Central Texas communities. In addition, for over 20 years he has led twice-annual study groups for individuals seeking to take the Texas RPLS licensing exam. Greg is a native Austinite and is dedicated to giving back to the professional community in his hometown.
Ronny Lackey, RPLS
Ronny Lackey is the Surveying Section Director at the Texas Department of Transportation, and the Survey Workgroup leader for the Digital Delivery Team. He has worked in surveying for 19 years, with 5 years in TxDOT. He's worked in the oil & gas, residential, commercial, FEMA, municipal, and utility surveying industries. He's served several roles including Section Director, Department Director, Project Manager, Land Surveyor, Surveyor-in-Training, Survey Technician, Party Chief, Instrument Operator, and GIS Specialist. His educational background includes a Bachelors of Geography (GIS) from Texas A&M-College Station and a Masters of Geospatial Engineering from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He became a Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor in 2013 and currently serves on the Survey Advisory Committee for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. In his spare time, he’s been a professor in surveying for Lone Star College and Austin Community College.
