This semester, you have read, researched, and writen about a topic of your choice. You have done the research and written your findings in a detailed report. For your very last step, I would like you to remix your research to share the message with a new audience. You will choose a new format to share your findings with college students. To do this, you need to think about the most effective ways to share information with other college students. Using a new format (not text) you will summarize your findings and offer some advice based on your research and experiences this semester. You can do this individually or in pairs.
Your goal here is to create something informative and creative. You want to spread your message, so you need to create something that will grab the attention of your intended audience (college students).
As you plan this, consider how your message will change in this new format. You need to make your message short, sweet, and catchy, rather than detailed. What about this topic will college students care about? Will you persuade your audience using ethos, pathos, logos, or all three? How can you use visuals to give information rather than words? You also want to come off as an expert, so make sure you don't have any typos!
Since YOU are the intended audience of these presentations, you will be grading each others presentations. All you need to do it watch, enjoy, and grade. I will provide rubrics to fill out during the presentations.
Demonstrate knowledge of individual and collaborative writing processes. (Teamwork, Communication Skills)
Write in a style appropriate to audience and purpose. (Communication Skills)
Read, reflect, and respond critically to a variety of texts. (Critical Thinking)
The goal is to communicate your advice in a format that will target college students. You can do (pretty much) anything except write another paper.
Here are some examples to get you started, but feel free to find your own.
Also, feel free to choose something I haven't thought of.
