Local Organizations

Putting Good Food Within Reach. We work with food donors across the country, financial supporters and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas. This commitment from private, government and charitable partners has allowed us to bring nearly 54 million meals to our community last year and into the hands of families and local nonprofits that turn to us for help. There are three key ways we do this.

Meals on Wheels Central Texas

Meals on Wheels Central Texas seeks to nourish and enrich the lives of the homebound and other people in need through programs that promote dignity and independent living. Meals on Wheels Central Texas is one of the largest meal-delivery organizations in the state, distributing 3,000 meals each business day to homebound older adults and people with disabilities.

Fresh Food For All

Fresh Food for All is a strategic response to hunger and poor nutrition. HCCM goes directly to areas in need to distribute fresh produce to clients, allowing them to select the produce that fits their preference.

Urban Roots

The only farm-based youth leadership organization in Austin, Urban Roots has been empowering youth and nourishing community for more than 10 years. Urban Roots started in 2008 with just 15 teenagers and one field as a project of another youth development organization, eventually becoming an independent nonprofit in 2011. On our 3.5 acre farm in East Austin, we serve teens and young adults through paid internships that focus not just on farming, but also on their growth as leaders and good citizens.
