Professional Background

Dr. Keen has an undergraduate degree in education, a masters in marine and environmental science, and a PhD in coastal and marine system science. 

Dr. Keen is also a certified scuba diver, and has frequently hosted film festivals to share environmental issues with a wider audience. 

Prior to graduate school, Dr. Keen worked in environmental law in Washington DC for six years. She has been a professor at the college level since 2014, started her own business in 2018, and became a faculty advisor in 2024.

Dr. Keen owns a consulting firm, specializing in environmental issues and more specifically, coastal zone management. Her company is currently working on the transition to clean energy in the Gulf of Mexico.
