We began in the fall of 2020 as a group of Dual Credit instructors from the CLS department of ACC who convened virtually each semester to discuss a selected text. After 8 sessions on Zoom, we held our first in-person meet up in the Summer of 2023, and we're never looking back. In the fall of 2023, we officially opened the doors to all CLS, INRW, and Creative Writing faculty and are a larger, happier group for it. Now, it's a free-for-all. Show up. Bring a friend. Tell anyone. All readers welcome!
We also now treat Book Club as a book swap. It's not a dumping ground—that's what little libraries are for—but feel free to bring along a book or two you're happy to have read and willing to pass along.
Our selections loosely track CLS courses.
In the fall we read non-fiction to pair with ENG 1301
In the spring we read short stories to pair with ENG 1302
In the summer we read novels because good luck stopping us
In the fall, we read non-fiction. Please sign up for our interest list to be added to email announcements and recommend a non-fiction text if you have one in mind.
We'll meet at Easy Tiger at the Linc at a date to be determined to discuss, drink, and swap the best books we're willing to part with.
And 100% yes of course you can come even if you:
never signed up
haven't read the book
don't plan on reading the book
just want to pillage a stack of "up for grabs" books people bring for your book exchange
Two Additional Reminders:
We are an open group. The invites go out to CLS, but you can always bring a +1 or forward this to interested parties.
Book Club will be paired with a book swap. Bring a book or books you are willing to part with, and let's spread some stories around.
Happy reading, readers. Hope to see you there!
