Step 1
Review General Information
College and High School Partnerships
Austin Community College is the top destination for area high school students and the largest source of transfer students to the region's top universities.
ACC serves twenty-six districts with more than 60 high schools, in addition to numerous charter schools and private schools. By combining support activities and educational preparation in the high schools, ACC helps students follow a clear path to their future.
ACC’s High School Partnerships provide opportunities for high school students to make a successful transition into college, earn college credits, and potentially a college associate degree prior to graduation from high school.
Programs
Austin Community College’s High School Partnerships are designed to reach widely across the ACC service area and to support all students in their college access and success. Partnership programs include:
ACC Tech articulated credit (credit-in-escrow) for CTE Courses
Career Academies
College Preparatory Courses (HB5) for High School Seniors
Dual Credit for Academic and Career and Technical Education Courses
Early College High Schools

Articulated Course Partnerships
Articulation is a program that gives high school students the opportunity to receive college credit for a career and technology course taken in high school.
How does it work?
Courses available for articulation are documented in an articulation request list submitted by the school district and approved by Austin Community College. A memorandum of understanding outlines all of the requirements for course delivery and the requirements for student credit award.
How does my school obtain a copy of their approved articulation list?
Your district contact (example CTE Director/Coordinator) can contact the High School Programs Office via email at jaye.chavez@austincc.edu to request a copy. District MOU's are available on the Office of College and High School Relations website at https://www.austincc.edu/offices/college-and-high-school-relations.
Articulated to dual credit pathways end in ACC workforce certificates which in turn feed into AAS degrees and those feed into BAAS degrees. This pathway alignment will better serve students by giving them multiple entry and exit points along their educational and career journey. The articulated credit program is only available to students in the 9th and 10th grade. As 11th and 12th graders they will need to be enrolled in workforce dual credit classes. There are three exceptions:
Biotechnology students will be allowed to articulate the Biotechnology 2 class in the 11th grade due to prerequisite course requirements
Fire Academy students will earn articulated credit upon passing the Texas Firefighter Certification exam
Sanitation and Safety students will receive credit upon passing the ServSafe Food Managers Certification exam
What is required of an Articulated Credit teacher?
Teachers of articulated courses are required to deliver the college curriculum in their classroom in addition to the required TEKS.
Teachers must also do the following:
Submit transcripts to the ACCTech Office
Submit a current resume to the ACCTech Office (The resume should highlight the teachers work experience in the area they will be teaching)
Complete Annual Curriculum Training and Fall Meetings with their Department
Utilize the ACC Student Achievement System to record student grades
How do students earn Articulated Credit?
Students must do the following:
Students must have an 80 or higher class average and a 70 or better on the ACC End of Course Assessment to be eligible for credit.
Exceptions to this criteria will be noted in the special conditions column of the articulation list.
How do students get their credit document with ACC?
Students must take at least 1 college credit class at ACC to generate a transcript on which the credits can be applied.
Students with grades recorded in the ACC Student Achievement system will have their credits automatically applied to their ACC transcript the semester after they complete one college credit course at ACC.
