Our work is driven by a field of practice that we call, Creative Placemaking - we leverage art and place to serve a community’s interest, and create social change in systems that serve people with disabilities in Texas.

For 24 years Imagine Art has been positioning artists with disabilities to be creative placemakers and leaders in their communities. Our Mission is to transform the lives of artist with disabilities for the glory of God.

The Imagine Art community positions artists with disabilities to be creative placemakers and leaders. We operate creative spaces where artists are engaged as makers, leaders and catalysts for change. We are a diverse community of artists with and without disabilities with a growing number of non-artists who are joining our community. Our core services are anchored in the arts. We are serving the needs of artists with disabilities by offering high caliber art services, which attract non-disabled artists. The result is an inclusive, creative community that demonstrates the power of creative place for transformation and change. We creatively leverage disability related resources (such as day habilitation, Medicaid long term care and pre-vocational dollars) to demonstrate a new model of service delivery that empowers people with disabilities.

Each day we are helping artists in the art-making process and work hard to create an atmosphere that empowers our artists. We offer a wide range of opportunities where volunteers can help out with daily operations. We would love to connect with you to find a volunteer role that would be a good fit for you based on your interests, gifts, and skills!

We have a wide variety of opportunities available, but have had to readjust much of our programming this year because of Covid. We are operating a hybrid model of in-person and virtual opportunities and expect to have volunteer opportunities (in-person or virtual) available in the spring.

Volunteer in the Arts

Listed below you will find our ongoing opportunities to work in the studio alongside our Artist.

Volunteer in Long-Term Care

Our long-term care program is rapidly growing and seeks administrative and program support. Meet with our team to create custom opportunities to engage in communications, policy development, program design, human resources or direct client support.

Volunteer in Systems Change

We seek volunteers to support research and development in areas of creative placemaking, affordable housing, IDD systems change and program design. We also seek videographers and photographers who can help us tell our story in image or film.

We seek writers who will support the development of a creative white paper to Health and Human Services, which will demonstrate the power of creative place for systems change.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

We have a variety of other needs that arise throughout the year.  If you have expertise in electrical, carpentry or facility maintenance.   We enjoy carving out unique volunteer opportunities that match personal interest and passion.  Reach out today and connect with us!
